The redox homeostasis between peroxynitrite and glutathione is closely associated with the physiological pathological processes, e.g. vascular tissue prolonged relaxation smooth muscle preparations, attenuation hepatic necrosis, activation matrix metalloproteinase-2. We report a near-infrared fluorescent probe based on heptamethine cyanine, which integrates telluroenzyme mimics for monitoring changes of ONOO–/GSH levels in cells vivo. can reversibly respond to ONOO– GSH exhibits high...

We have developed a near-IR reversible fluorescent probe containing an organoselenium functional group that can be used for the highly sensitive and selective monitoring of peroxynitrite oxidation reduction events under physiological conditions. The effectively avoids influence autofluorescence in biological systems gave positive results when tested both aqueous solution living cells. Real-time images cellular were successfully acquired.

The majority of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations that cause human disease are mild to moderately deleterious, yet many random mtDNA would be expected severe. To determine the fate more severe mutations, we introduced mtDNAs containing two affect oxidative phosphorylation into female mouse germ line. ND6 mutation was selectively eliminated during oogenesis within four generations, whereas milder COI retained throughout multiple generations even though offspring consistently developed...

We present a colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent probe Cy–N3 that exhibits selective response to H2S. The employs near-infrared cyanine as fluorophore, is equipped with an operating azide unit. It readily employed for assessing intracellular H2S levels, confocal imaging achieved successfully.

Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is one of the common serious complications in sepsis, and pathogenesis SAE remains unclear. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) has been reported to be downregulated hippocampus SIRT1 agonists can attenuated cognitive dysfunction septic mice. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) a key substrate maintain deacetylation activity SIRT1. As an intermediate NAD+, β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) promising treating neurodegenerative diseases cerebral ischemic injury....

Background —Acupuncture is reported to reduce myocardial ischemia, arrhythmias, and hypertension. To investigate the physiological mechanisms underlying these observations, a model of reflex-induced, reversible ischemia was developed test effects median nerve stimulation as surrogate for electroacupuncture. Methods Results —Chloralose-anesthetized cats were instrumented measure arterial blood pressure, left ventricular dP/dt, heart rate, anterior descending (LAD) coronary velocity, regional...

Abstract Forests play an important role in global carbon cycles. However, the lack of available information on stocks dead organic matter, including woody debris and litter, reduces reliability assessing cycles entire forest ecosystems. Here we estimate that national DOM stock period 2004–2008 is 925 ± 54 Tg, with average density 5.95 0.35 Mg C ha −1 . Over past two decades from periods 1984−1988 to 2004−2008, matter has increased by 6.7 2.2 Tg per year, primarily due increasing area....

Variations in selenium (Se) intake have been reported to affect the barrier function and immune responses gut. Previous studies mainly focused on role of Se itself or its metabolites, while influences Se-intake-related microbiota gut health were not thoroughly studied. This study compared effects different dietary supplementation (Se-deficient, Se-adequate, Se-supranutritional) mice. Fecal transplantation (FMT) was further conducted bypass effect provided direct evidence that intestinal are...

GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (GCH1) deficiency is critical for endothelial nitric oxide synthase uncoupling in dysfunction. MicroRNAs (miRs) are a class of regulatory RNAs that negatively regulate gene expression. We investigated whether statins prevent dysfunction via miR-dependent GCH1 upregulation.Endothelial function was assessed by measuring acetylcholine-induced vasorelaxation the organ chamber.
