This Report summarizes the results of activities in 2012 and first half 2013 LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group. The main goal working group was to present state art Physics at LHC, integrating all new that have appeared last few years. report follows Handbook Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002) second 2. Differential Distributions (CERN-2012-002). After discovery a boson mid-2012 this focuses on refined prediction Standard Model (SM) phenomenology around experimentally...
This paper offers and tests an approach to conceptualizing the global competency of engineers. It begins by showing that often-stated goal working effectively with different cultures is fundamentally about learning work people who define problems differently. The a minimum criterion for three outcomes whose achievement can help engineering students fulfill criterion. uses establish typology established methods support students. introduces course, Engineering Cultures, as example integrated...
We present the report of hadronic working group BOOST2010 workshop held at University Oxford in June 2010. The first part contains a review potential decays highly boosted particles as an aid for discovery LHC and discussion status tools developed to meet challenge reconstructing isolating these topologies. In second part, we new results comparing performance jet grooming techniques top tagging algorithms on common set benchmark channels. also study sensitivity substructure observables...

In this paper, we present the results of a detailed investigation structural, optical, and magnetic properties chemically synthesized pure Co-doped $\mathrm{Sn}{\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ powders using x-ray diffraction (XRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Raman photoelectron magnetometry. ${\mathrm{Sn}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Co}}_{x}{\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ samples prepared at $600\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\mathrm{C}$ with low doping concentrations Co...
The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) theoretical framework is increasingly used to interpret particle physics measurements and constrain beyond the Model. We investigate truncation of effective-operator expansion using geometric formulation SMEFT, which allows exact solutions, up mass-dimension eight. Using this construction, we compare solution at ${\mathcal{O}}(v^2/\Lambda^2)$, partial ${\mathcal{O}}(v^4/\Lambda^4)$ a subset terms with dimension-6 operators, full...
The mass of the W boson, a mediator weak force between elementary particles, is tightly constrained by symmetries standard model particle physics. We measure boson to be 80433.5 ± 9.4 MeV using data corresponding 8.8/fb integrated luminosity √s = 1.96 TeV with CDF II detector at Fermilab Tevatron collider. measurement in tension prediction collected proton-antiproton collisions model.
A bstract Using the production of a Higgs boson in association with W as test case, we assess impact dimension-8 operators within context Standard Model Effective Field Theory. Dimension-8-SM-interference and dimension-6-squared terms appear at same order an expansion 1 / Λ, hence effects can be treated systematic uncertainty on new physics inferred from analyses using dimension-6 alone. To study phenomenological consequences operators, one must first determine complete set that contribute...
CP-violation in the Higgs sector remains a possible source of baryon asymmetry universe. Recent differential measurements signed angular distributions boson production provide general experimental probe CP structure interactions. We interpret these using Standard Model Effective Field Theory and show that they do not distinguish various CP-violating operators couple gauge fields. However, constraints can be sharpened by measuring additional CP-sensitive observables exploiting...
Femtosecond two beam, self-diffraction experiments are performed in ZnSe and ZnCdSe/ZnSe quantum wells. Degenerate wave mixing signals from the third to thirteenth order easily visible naked eye, implying that nonlinear effects this system may already be nonperturbative regime. Spectrally resolved data indicate nonlinearities originate entirely excitonic resonance. In addition, existence of four-wave bulk at negative time delay suggests exciton-exciton interaction plays an important role....

We have studied laser action of ZnSe and ZnS0.05Se0.95 samples grown by seeded physical vapor phase transport (SPVT) technique in the near resonant two-photon absorption regime. The pumped lasing was observed using a tunable near-infrared nanosecond (830–890 nm). Blue could be up to 200 K threshold measured ∼7 MW/cm2 at 10 K. This work demonstrates applicability diode lasers as pumping sources excite ZnSe-based materials. By comparing energy position with that one-photon examining red shift...
We analyze the angular momentum distribution of black holes produced in high energy collisions space-times with extra spatial dimensions. show that hole spin significantly affects and spectra Hawking radiation. Our results experimental sensitivity to provide tests production dynamics.
The top quark and electroweak bosons (W Z) represent the most massive fundamental particles yet discovered, as such refer directly to Standard Model's greatest remaining mystery: mechanism by which all gained mass. This report summarizes work done within top-ew group of Tevatron-for-LHC workshop. It represents a collection both Tevatron results, LHC predictions. hope is that considering comparing machines, program can be improved aided knowledge from Tevatron, particle physics whole...
Pulsed probe degenerate four wave mixing experiments were performed on GaN epilayers using 13 ps pulses at 532 nm. Intensity and time response of the scattering efficiency was studied. dependence observed signal suggests carrier generation by both single two photon effects. The absolute measured related to pump-induced nonlinear index change. refractive coefficient found 1×10−3 cm2/GW which is greater than an order magnitude larger expected value. Time be dictated lifetimes....
In order to stimulate new engagement and trigger some concrete studies in areas where further work would be beneficial towards fully understanding the physics potential of an $e^+e^-$ Higgs / Top Electroweak factory, we propose define a set focus topics. The general reasoning proposed topics are described this document.
Optically pumped lasing of (111) oriented bulk ZnSe grown by seeded physical vapor phase transport (SPVT) technique has been achieved at room temperature under near resonant pumping with the excitation photon energy very close to fundamental band gap. Laser emission can be seen a intensity as low 7 kW/cm2. The mode spacings resulting from dispersion index refraction for in Fabry–Perot resonator-like cavity have observed well. Our experimental results demonstrate that SPVT single crystals...
We investigate the potential for measuring relative couplings of a low-mass Higgs boson at Large Hadron Collider using $WH$, $ZH$, and $t\overline{t}H$ production, where decays to tau-lepton pairs. With $100\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ $\sqrt{s}=14\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ $pp$ collision data we find that these modes can improve sensitivity coupling-ratio measurements with mass about $125\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$.
The discovery of lepton flavour violating interactions will be striking evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model.
