Objective:
To assess incidence and predictors of acute symptomatic seizures in a prospective cohort patients with first stroke.
Methods:
Patients stroke hospitalized 31 Italian centers were recruited. Relevant demographic data, disease characteristics, risk factors collected. Acute (≤7 days) recorded correlated to age, gender, family history epilepsy, vascular factors.
Results:
A total 714 (315 women, 399 men; age 27–97 years) enrolled. 609 (85.3%) had cerebral...
Abstract The ability of intrarectal ultrasound to recognize the local extent disease was investigated in 23 patients with histologically proven adenocarcinoma lower two-thirds rectum before operation. Two probes, 12cm long, working at a frequency 3.5 and 7.5 MHz, were used. results compared those pre-operative computed tomography (CT) pathological report resected specimens. Sonography correctly staged 20 tumours two false negatives one positive, while CT 19 positives. found be as accurate...
Abstract Increasing evidence demonstrates that target‐based agents are active only in molecularly selected populations of patients. Therefore, the identification predictive biomarkers has become mandatory to improve clinical development these novel drugs. Mutations epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) or rearrangements ALK gene non‐small‐cell lung cancer, and BRAF mutations melanoma clear examples driver response treatment with specific inhibitors. Predictive might also identify subgroups...
Bacterial prostatitis (BP) is a common prostatic infection characterized by pain and urinary symptoms, often with negative bacterial cultures from secretions. It affects young older men bimodally impacts quality of life (QoL) significantly. Background Objectives: Treatment typically involves antibiotics, but multimodal approach additional nutraceuticals may enhance outcomes. This study aimed to assess the efficacy Butirprost® in association fluoroquinolones patients chronic (CBP). Materials...
This study reports a series of 19 extrapleural solitary fibrous tumors. The patients included 6 men and 13 women with age ranging from 27 to 86 years. Three showed local recurrence. In 2 tumors, diagnosis malignancy was made. All the tumors were strongly positive for CD34, 3 them expressed high levels progesterone receptor. Solitary are fairly rare, occurring in many parts body, their behavior is unpredictable.
Obtaining a valid informed consent in the medical and surgical field is long debated issue literature. In robotic surgery we believe necessity to follow three arrangements make more complete. This study presents correlations descriptions based on forensic medicine concepts research, literature review, proposal of an integration classic concept consent. In IC complete. Integrate information already present with data surgeon's experience RS, number procedures department regional map expertises...
Robotic surgery (RS) technology has undergone rapid growth in the surgical field since its approval. In clinical practice, failure of robotic procedures mainly results from a surgeon's inability or to device malfunction. We reviewed literature estimate impact this second circumstance RS and consequent legal implications. According data literature, malfunction is rare. believe it necessary complement training with technical understanding devices.
Background and purpose Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) kappa free light chains (FLCs) may be a more sensitive marker of intrathecal immunoglobulin (Ig)G synthesis compared with oligoclonal bands (OCBs). Our aim was to retrospectively determine the additional value lambda index (CSF FLC/serum FLC)/(CSF albumin/serum albumin) in predicting multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis group OCB‐negative patients suspected MS. Methods The CSF serum FLCs were tested using Freelite kit (serum) Mx assay (The...
Infection occurs frequently in the organ transplant recipients during post-transplant period because of immunosuppression. Therefore, prophylactic antimicrobial agents are often used. The azole antifungals, widely prescribed prophylactically, known to have many drug–drug interactions. This report presents a case interaction between voriconazole and tacrolimus kidney recipient. Voriconazole treatment led dramatic increase concentration that required its discontinuation spite manufacturer's...
