The relationship between the concentrations of intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL) and other lipoproteins extent coronary artery disease (CAD) was studied in 182 consecutive patients evaluated by selective cineangiography. On univariate analysis, CAD correlated significantly positively with very low density (VLDL) cholesterol, IDL cholesterol low-density (LDL) negatively high-density (HDL) cholesterol. Analysis four subgroups divided LDL levels indicated that moderately increased were...

Extragastrointestinal stromal tumor (EGIST) is a unique that occurs outside the gastrointestinal tract. EGIST shows c-kit expression and histologic appearance similar to those of (GIST). Most GISTs have gain-of-functional mutation gene, some platelet-derived growth factor receptor-alpha (PDGFRA) gene. However, frequency genes in EGISTs remains unclear. We examined clinicopathologic features, prognostic factors, PDGFRA 39 cases EGIST. Tumors with high mitotic counts (>or=5/50 power fields) or...

Intrahepatic disease recurrence is observed frequently after locoregional therapies for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the indication therapy still unclear. To clarify small HCC tumors, authors measured distance of microsatellites from main tumor and analyzed relation between this clinicopathologic factors. The retrospectively 100 tumors (</= 5 cm in dimension) treated by curative hepatectomy. A microsatellite was defined as invasion into portal vein or intrahepatic...

Background Laparoscopic hepatectomy was initially reported in 1992. However, the experiences are scarce, and this operation has not been a standard procedure until now. The aims of study were to assess our results laparoscopy-assisted left lateral for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) compare them with those open conventional procedures. Methods From 1984 2002, HCC less than 5 cm diameter carried out 21 patients. Ten patients received procedure, remaining 11 an procedure. Results There no...

The aim of the present study was to evaluate value anatomical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with microportal vascular invasion (vp1) between 2000 and 2010.Vascular has been reported as a prognostic factor liver HCC. Anatomical HCC resulted in optimum outcomes eradicating intrahepatic micrometastases through portal vein, but opposite results have also reported.A clinical chart review performed 546 patients vp1. We retrospectively evaluated recurrence-free survival (RFS) (AR)...

Controversy exists as to the nature of gastric perfusion in portal-hypertensive gastropathy. To investigate portal hemodynamics and mucosal cirrhotic patients with without gastropathy, we subjected 56 hypertension vein catheterization, pneumatic pressure sensor technique, duplex sonography laser Doppler flowmetry. Thirteen had gastropathy: In 10 it was mild, 3 severe. The presence gastropathy seemed be independent age, sex, cause cirrhosis or grade esophageal varices. Portal venous pressure,...

We report here the results of endoscopic injection sclerotherapy performed in 1,000 consecutively treated Japanese patients with esophageal varices. This prospective study covered period from 1982 to 1990. Variceal bleeding was controlled 215 (97.7%) 220 patients. Esophageal varices were completely eradicated 778 (77.8%); mean number sessions 4.2. In only 3 did same size recur. Small, dilated, venous vessels that required additional follow-up endoscopy at 3-mo intervals appeared 171 (22.2%)...

We previously cloned human G protein gamma 7 (GNG7) and demonstrated that it was downregulated in gastrointestinal cancer. The significance of GNG7 expression oesophageal cancer is unknown. TaqMan quantitative real-time PCR performed to determine the clinical 55 cases Furthermore, GNG7-transfected cells were analysed laboratory studies at genomic epigenetic levels. Twenty-seven patients with low showed significantly poorer survival than did 28 high (P<0.05). Tumours invaded deeper those...
