G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), the largest family of targets for approved drugs, are rarely targeted cancer treatment, except certain endocrine and hormone-responsive tumors. Limited knowledge regarding GPCR expression in cells likely has contributed to this lack use GPCR-targeted drugs as therapeutics. We thus undertook GPCRomic studies define endoGPCRs (which respond endogenous hormones, neurotransmitters, metabolites) multiple types cells. Using TaqMan qPCR arrays quantify mRNA ~340...
Identifying the geographical origins of white tea is significance because quality and price from different production areas vary largely growing environment climatic conditions. In this study, we used near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) with (n = 579) to produce models discriminate these under Continuous wavelet transform (CWT), min-max normalization (Minmax), multiplicative scattering correction (MSC) standard normal variables (SNV) were preprocess original spectra (OS). The approaches...
Abstract The blood urea nitrogen to albumin ratio (BAR) has been demonstrated as a prognostic factor in sepsis and respiratory diseases, yet its role severe coronary heart disease (CHD) remains unexplored. This retrospective study, utilizing data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV database, included 4254 CHD patients, predominantly male (63.54%), with median age of 74 years (IQR 64–83). Primary outcomes in-hospital, 28-day 1-year all-cause mortality after ICU admission....
Abstract Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common reproductive endocrine disorder characterized by theca cell hyperplasia and excessive androgen production. An increasing body of evidence has pointed to close association between PCOS low-grade chronic systemic inflammation. However, the mechanistic basis for this linkage unknown. Therefore, we evaluated effects inflammatory agents lipopolysaccharide (LPS) IL-1β on rat theca-interstitial cells (TICs). We found that incubation with either...
The olfactory system receives extensive serotonergic inputs from the dorsal raphe, a nucleus involved in control of behavior, regulation mood, and modulation sensory processing. Although many studies have investigated how serotonin modulates bulb, few focused on anterior piriform cortex (aPC), region important for learning encoding odor identity intensity. Specifically, mechanism functional significance aPC remain largely unknown. Here we used pharmacologic, optogenetic, fiber photometry...
Sarcodon aspratus is a popular edible fungus for its tasty flavour and can be used as dietary supplement functional substances. This study was conducted to evaluate the potential health benefits of polysaccharides (SAFP) on water immersion restraint stress (WIRS)-induced gastric ulcer in rats. The results indicated that SAFP could decrease myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity plasma corticosterone levels, well enhance Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) Nitrate/nitrite (NOx) concentration Furthermore,...
Abstract Viral infection induces production of type I interferons and expression interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) that play key roles in inhibiting viral infection. Here, we show the ISG guanylate-binding protein 5 (GBP5) inhibits N-linked glycosylation proteins multiple viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. GBP5 binds to accessory subunits host oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex blocks its interaction with protein, which results misfolding retention endoplasmic reticulum...
The cryoprotective effects of mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) and curdlan (CU) on the quality grass carp surimi after freeze-thaw cycles (FTCs) were assessed using response surface methodology (RSM). optimal contents MOS (6.79%, w/w) CU (0.45%, produced minimum thawing losses highest gel strength five times FTCs. MOS, CU, their mixture demonstrated surimi. Compared to or alone, MOS-CU displayed synergistic effects, as evidenced by better prevention surimi, superior retardation aggregation...
Abstract BACKGROUND White tea, an agriculturally distinctive product, exhibits significant aroma variations across different regions. Nevertheless, the mechanisms driving these differences, and distinguishing methods suitable for specific origins, have been scarcely reported. In this study, we analyzed characteristics volatile components of 100 white tea samples from ten regions, utilizing sensory evaluation, headspace solid‐phase microextraction–gas chromatography–mass spectrometry...
The human vaginal virome is an essential yet understudied component of the microbiome. Its diversity and potential contributions to health disease, particularly vaginitis, remain poorly understood. We conducted metagenomic sequencing on 24 pooled swab libraries collected from 267 women, including both healthy individuals those diagnosed with vaginitis. Viral community composition, indices (Shannon, Richness, Pielou), phylogenetic characteristics were analyzed. Virus-host associations also...
Three new abietane-type diterpenes, named pinusins A-C (1-3) were isolated from Pini Lignum Nodi (the dried tuberculate or branched nodes of Pinus massoniana Lamb.), together with five known diterpenoids (4-8), a flavonoid (9) and monoterpene (10). The structures these compounds elucidated based on detailed spectroscopic analyses (1D, 2D NMR, HRESIMS, IR, UV), while ECD calculations determined their absolute configurations. All assayed in vitro for protective activities against acetaminophen...
Abstract Background Although observational epidemiological studies have found that smoking is positively associated with risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), assessing the causality this relationship has remained elusive because conventional are susceptible to bias such as confounding and reverse causation. Here, we applied Mendelian randomization (MR) approach examine potential causal between RA. Methods Summary statistics data for RA were obtained from a meta-analysis genome-wide association...
Berberine (BBR) is currently explored in the oral treatment of many disorders, especially those involving inflammatory processes. Nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems are emerging as an effective approach for improving poor absorption/bioavailability BBR. To optimize BBR immunoregulatory effects on a specific part gastrointestinal tract, here we describe micro- and nanoencapsulated hybrid system (MNEHDS) colon-targeted test its therapeutic efficacy murine colitis model. The MNEHDS...
A novel synthesis of antiobesity drug lorcaserin hydrochloride was accomplished in six steps. N-protection 2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethanamine with di-tert-butyl dicarbonate, N-alkylation allyl bromide, deprotection, intramolecular Friedel–Crafts alkylation, chiral resolution l-(+)-tartaric acid, and the final salification led to target molecule 23.1% overall yield 99.9% purity excellent enantioselectivity (>99.8% ee). This convenient economical procedure is remarkably applicable for scale-up production.
The bioactivity of tea polysaccharides (TPs) has been widely reported, but studies to date have focused on green tea. Some human health investigations implied that black may possess potential antidiabetic effects, less is known about their role and related mechanism. present study was, therefore, conducted investigate the chemical properties activity TPs from Monosaccharide composition revealed Alduronic acid (77.8 mol%) considerably predominated in fraction. TP conformation analysis...
ABSTRACT The consumption of pu-erh tea has been increasing rapidly in recent years. Pu-erh is considered to be much more beneficial human health than other kinds tea. Antioxidant activity the main medicinal property present study compared antioxidant activities water extracts (WEOT) and sun-dried green with different fermentation degrees vitro. capacities WEOTs were evaluated by testing their total antioxidation capacity. free radical scavenging capacity was using...
Background and aim Critically ill patients with cirrhosis are at an increased risk of mortality. Our study aimed to externally validate the ability prothrombin time–international normalized ratio albumin (PTAR), objective simple scoring system, predict 90-day mortality in critically cirrhosis. Patients methods A total 865 were entered into study, all participants followed up for least 90 days. Clinical parameters on first day intensive care unit admission included compare survivors...
