Abstract Previous studies have shown glutamatergic dysfunction and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic in schizophrenia. Animal suggest that N-methyl- d -aspartate receptor (NMDAR) GABA-ergic interact with each other lead to alterations excitatory/inhibitory balance. The NMDAR GABAergic-interneuron functions may be indexed by mismatch negativity (MMN) auditory steady-state gamma-band response (ASSR), respectively. However, no previous tested the hypothesis of an abnormal association between MMN...
The aim of this study is to report the differences in clinicopathological features oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) and survival between adolescent young adult (AYA) patients elderly find prognosticators. medical records 101 AYA 175 control with OTSCC who underwent surgery were reviewed. Variables related prognosis their associations analyzed. 5-year overall (5y-OS) rates stage I II 94.4% 89.6% (P = .353), respectively, disease-free (5y-DFS) 82.0% 76.6%, respectively .476). 5y-OS...
The interaction between cancer cells and the stroma plays a crucial role in tumor progression metastasis diverse malignancies, including oral cancer. However, mechanism underlying this remains incompletely elucidated. Here, to investigate fibroblasts, which are major cellular components of stroma, we conducted an vitro study by using human squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) lines normal dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs). results transwell assays revealed that migration invasion 2 OSCC lines, HO1-N-1...
Previous studies have revealed several genes involved in the carcinogenesis of oral cancer. However, detailed mechanisms underlying this process are poorly understood. Previously, we established a database cataloging transcriptional progression profile and identified candidate with continuously increasing or decreasing expression, which specifically promote transition premalignant lesions to invasive carcinomas. In study, using our microarray database, attempted determine significant that...
Primordial odontogenic tumor (POT) is a newly classified, mixed epithelial and mesenchymal tumor, with only 17 reported cases to date. Herein, we report case of POT that occurred in the right maxilla 10-year-old boy reveal unique features comparison those previously reported. Radiologically, lesion presented as well-defined, unilocular radiolucency notable radiopaque foci on periphery. Microscopically, was mainly composed dental papilla-like myxoid fibrous connective tissue, largely...
Abstract Claudins are the major component of tight junctions, which form a primary barrier to paracellular diffusion and maintain cell polarity in normal epithelia endothelia. In cancer cells, claudins play additional roles besides serving as components participate anoikis or invasion. Among claudin family proteins, claudin‐1 has most promising potential, both diagnostically prognostically, many types cancers, including oral, gastric, liver, colon cancers. However, conflicting results have...
Abstract Background Metastasis of infradiaphragmatic tumors to the left supraclavicular lymph node is reported be rare. When metastasis detected in patients with head and neck carcinoma, locating primary cancer remains a difficult time-consuming challenge despite dramatic development screening technologies treatment methods. Case presentation We report three cases malignant tumor diagnosed following an initial finding after surgery for tongue squamous cell carcinoma (follow-up period, range...
Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) is a rare salivary gland tumor that histologically characterized by biphasic tubular structures composed of inner ductal and outer clear myoepithelial cells, which especially uncommon in the minor glands (MSG). Because its histologic variety, complexity, heterogeneity, it sometimes challenging to make accurate diagnosis. Here, we report literature review EMC MSGs with our experience two cases. Incisional biopsy was suggestive pleomorphic adenoma Case...
Abstract Oral tumors necessitate a dependable computer-assisted pathological diagnosis system considering their rarity and diversity. A content-based image retrieval (CBIR) using deep neural networks has been successfully devised for digital pathology. No CBIR oral pathology investigated because of the lack an extensive database feature extractors tailored to This study uses large constructed from 30 categories compare learning methods as extractors. The highest average area under receiver...
Bone metabolism is strictly regulated, and impaired regulation caused by hormonal imbalances induces systemic bone loss. Local loss tumor invasion into suggested to be induced the generation of cytokines, which affect metabolism, cells. The major cause local losses excess resorption osteoclasts, differentiate from macrophages receptor activator nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) or necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). We previously found a novel pathway for tumor-induced osteoclastogenesis...
Subjective quality of life is a clinically relevant outcome that strongly associated with the severity clinical symptoms in individuals ultra-high risk for psychosis and patients recent-onset psychotic disorder. Our objective was to examine whether longitudinal changes are disorder.Individuals disorder were recruited same settings at baseline followed up more than 6 months less 5 years later. We assessed five factors using positive negative syndrome scale, World Health Organization...
Abstract Background Primary intraosseous carcinoma (PIOC), NOS is an odontogenic with unknown etiology. Its diagnosis may be used when central jaw cannot categorized as any other type of carcinoma. Further information on this extremely rare tumor needed to improve our understanding and evaluate the classification carcinomas. Case presentation We herein presented two patients PIOC, different clinical histopathological features analyzed gene mutations in these using next-generation sequencing...

Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is a benign salivary gland tumor with diverse cytomorphological and architectural features, typically presenting biphasic ductal structures within chondromyxoid matrix. We report unique case of PA where dense lymphoid infiltration disrupted these structures, resulting in duct-like slit lined single layer spindle cells, lacking the pattern. These cells demonstrated myoepithelial nature, confirmed by positive immunostaining for pan-cytokeratin, S100 protein, calponin....
We previously observed a novel osteoclastogenesis system that is induced by oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cells, which target osteoclast precursor cells (OPC) without upregulation of the master transcriptional factor osteoclastogenesis, NFATc1. Here, we analyzed inflammatory cytokines were preferentially expressed in one osteoclastogenic OSCC lines, namely NEM, compared with subclone had lost its properties. Based on gene expression microarray and protein array analyses, IL-1, IL-6,...
