Platelet transfusion refractoriness remains problematic in the management of patients who have undergone hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation. Bone marrow transplantation itself is reported to be a relevant factor hampering efficient platelet transfusions. However, prospective analysis assessing factors affecting efficacy setting has yet conducted. To identify independently influencing after transplantation, study was performed determine effectiveness transfusions by estimating...

To evaluate the usefulness of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in diagnosis extraserosal invasion advanced gastric cancer.MR was performed 48 patients with cancer, and results were correlated histopathologic findings. Images perpendicular to wall cancer obtained spoiled gradient-recalled acquisition steady state (GRASS). The degree serosal classified on basis appearance a low-signal-intensity band around lesion.Advanced appeared as thickened high signal intensity after administration contrast...

Abstract: Objectives: Dental implants have become increasingly popular in the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with bounded edentulous spaces. Oral condition‐related quality life (QOL) levels rarely been assessed these patients. Material and methods: Two groups subjects spaces were studied: an implant‐supported fixed prosthesis group (11 patients) a resin‐bonded (33 patients). The two well matched terms sex, age, missing units location units. requested to answer self‐administered QOL...

Abstract Objectives To evaluate the accuracy of robotic CT-guided out-of-plane needle insertion in phantom and animal experiments. Methods A system (Zerobot), developed at our institution, was used for insertion. In experiment, 12 insertions into a various angles XY YZ planes were performed, same manually performed freehand, as well guided by smartphone application (SmartPuncture). Angle errors compared between smartphone-guided manual using Student’s t test. 6 toward targets 1.0 mm diameter...

We report the rare case of an 80-year-old man with hepatocellular carcinoma that ruptured in gallbladder, causing a cystic artery pseudoaneurysm and hemobilia. Emergency transarterial embolization (TAE) successfully controlled bleeding without ischemic cholecystitis. Cone-beam computed tomography angiography was useful identifying branch selectively embolized artery. Although patient had poor liver function (Child-Pugh class C) before TAE, it remarkably improved after due to resolution...

Intrapulmonary solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are extremely rare neoplasms. We report a case of an intrapulmonary SFT and describe the findings computed tomography (CT) F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography. The indicates that benign can present as ground-glass nodule in early stages disease may appear well-defined, lobular, homogeneously enhanced mass with slow growth on chest CT images. To our knowledge, this is first describing natural course over 16 years based tomography/CT.

The growing recognition that the quality of life (QOL) is an important outcome dental care has created a need for range instruments to measure oral-health-related QOL. However, validated missing tooth specific questionnaires are not currently available assess impact and rehabilitation modalities on oral health related Therefore, self-administered, questionnaire (51 items) was made basis well-designed QOL (Oral Health Impact Profile). There has been growing interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided interventional procedures such as percutaneous needle biopsy. Although open MRI is preferable for MRI-guided terms of patient accessibility, its inferior capability due to lower field strength a substantial limitation. In this situation, the high-field (1.2T) recently become available. This novel system expected provide excellent image quality well good potentially contributing safe and accurate device manipulation....

A 57-year-old woman with a history of endometrial carcinoma underwent follow-up 18F-labeled fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan. Although no recurrence the was observed, PET/CT imaging revealed diffusely increased FDG uptake in bone marrow (Figure 1, left). Laboratory investigations white blood cell count 46,400/mm3 (reference range: 3300–8600/mm3); hemoglobin level 12.3 g/dL 11.6–14.8 g/dL); and platelet 820,000/mm3 158,000–348,000/mm3)....

Traumatic intrapericardial diaphragmatic hernias are very rare; they occur when the central tendon of diaphragm ruptures, allowing abdominal viscera to herniate into pericardial sac, causing life-threatening cardiac tamponade. Computed tomography imaging with multiplanar reconstruction is useful in evaluating such cases.

Small bowel arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a rare vascular lesion, which should be considered in patients presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding, as it high-flow arterial lesion that can cause life-threatening bleeding. We describe three cases of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with recurring local tumor progression, i.e., failure following repeat cryoablation for a locally progressed tumor. A second progression developed in all after the first despite there being sufficiently large ice-ball margin. In two cases, was treated microwave ablation and controlled follow-up. one case, third performed, but 12 months. These suggest that some RCCs may be refractory to cryoablation. switching from another modality an alternative.
