Gold nanorods can be used as photothermal converters, permitting near-infrared (NIR) light to transmitted deep into tissues without causing damage. We prepared hybrid with a core−shell structure, i.e., single gold nanorod encapsulated in poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) nanogel. Hybrid demonstrated remote, reversible, pulsatile phase transition and vivo action after irradiation using NIR laser.

OBJECTIVE The clinical significance of cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation complicating ulcerative colitis (UC) patients has been uncertain. It therefore remained undetermined whether or not CMV should be treated in UC under immunosuppression. aim the study was to clarify natural history patients. METHODS Sixty-nine with moderate severe activity were enrolled study. All prednisolone, and/or immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine A. We sequentially monitored every 2 wk up until 8 using...

By means of a cell culture method, the attachment and growth mouse L929 fibroblast cells were studied on matrices (-SDS)- (+SDS)-keratins, which extracted from wool in absence presence sodium dodecyl sulfate, respectively. The (+SDS)-keratin showed some toxic effect growth, but upon washing with pH 7/phosphate buffer, protein behaved similarly to substratum (-SDS)-keratin. comparative assay keratins, collagen (type I), glass revealed that keratins more adhesive supportive for proliferation...

In this study, we prepared gold nanorod (NR)-embedded N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) hydrogels and studied their volume phase transition behavior induced by near-infrared (near-IR) laser irradiation utilizing the photothermal conversion characteristics of NRs. When poly(ethylene glycol)-modified NRs were used for preparation composite gels, showed marked dispersion stability in gel. Near-IR gel (cylindrical shape, diameter = 140 μm) under following conditions, NR concentrations ≥100 μM power...

BACKGROUND: There are few effective approaches to infertile patients with repeated failure in IVF–embryo transfer therapy. Since recent evidence suggests that some populations of maternal immune cells positively support embryo implantation, we have developed a new approach using peripheral blood mononuclear (PBMCs). METHODS: Patients who had not experienced successful pregnancy despite four or more sessions were enrolled this study (n = 35, 35 cycles). PBMCs obtained from on the day oocyte...

Abstract Gold nanorods, which have a strong surface plasmon band at the near-infrared region, absorb light energy is then converted to heat. Since can penetrate deeply into tissue, gold nanorods are expected be useful as photosensitizers for photothermal therapy. In this study, length of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chain was optimized in order stabilize blood circulation after intravenous injection. PEG5000- and PEG10000-modified showed higher stability compared with PEG2000-...
