We describe 10 cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variant BA.2.86 detected in Denmark, including molecular characteristics and results from wastewater surveillance that indicate the is circulating country at a low level. This new with many spike gene mutations was classified as under monitoring by World Health Organization on 17 August 2023. Further global COVID-19, other SARS-CoV-2 variants highly warranted.
Abstract Cable bacteria of the Desulfobulbaceae family are centimeter-long filamentous bacteria, which capable conducting long-distance electron transfer. Currently, all cable classified into two candidate genera: Candidatus Electronema, typically found in freshwater environments, and Electrothrix, saltwater environments. This taxonomic framework is based on both 16S rRNA gene sequences metagenome-assembled genome (MAG) phylogenies. However, most currently available MAGs highly fragmented,...
Vast amounts of pathogen genomic, demographic and spatial data are transforming our understanding SARS-CoV-2 emergence spread. We examined the drivers molecular evolution spread 291,791 genomes from Denmark in 2021. With a sequencing rate consistently exceeding 60%, up to 80% PCR-positive samples between March November, viral genome set is broadly whole-epidemic representative. identify consistent rise diversity over time, with notable spikes upon importation novel variants (e.g., Delta...

Multidrug efflux pumps excrete a range of small molecules from bacterial cells. In this study, we show that have affinity for SYTO™ dyes are commonly used to label bacteria. Efflux pump activity will there lead false negative results staining and should be with caution on live samples. Abstract Figure
Abstract Objectives To determine if vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREfm) carriers carry the same VREfm clone after a minimum follow-up of 365 days. For those carrying clone, we investigated genomic evolution per year genome. Methods We used WGS results to assign clones each isolate and shifts. Finally, calculated distance in core-genome MLST alleles, number SNPs between consecutive isolates from patients clone. Results In total, 44.2% carried was 1.8 alleles 2.6 genome year....
