A retrospective case-controlled study compared pregnancy outcomes between people with perinatally acquired HIV (PaHIV), horizontally (HaHIV), and those without HIV. PaHIV were more likely to be viraemic in early than HaHIV. When matched for age ethnicity, babies born premature, small gestational age, delivered by caesarean section require enhanced neonatal social care involvement infants age/ethnically HIV-uninfected individuals.

Invasive Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a major cause of serious neonatal infection. Current strategies to reduce early-onset GBS disease have no impact on late-onset (LOD). Although LOD viewed as sporadic event in the community, arising within intensive care unit (ICU) raises questions about mode acquisition.

Purpose of review HIV screening in pregnancy, universal suppressive antiretroviral therapy (ART) and breastfeeding avoidance can almost completely prevent vertical transmission HIV. Breastfeeding is associated with an additional risk transmission, although this extremely low maternal ART. This minimal must be balanced the benefits for women living (WLHIV) their infants. Guidance high-income countries has evolved, moving towards supported breast feeding on Recent findings Breastmilk accounts...

Children with perinatally acquired HIV (paHIV) remain at an increased risk of pneumococcal infection despite highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Beyond infancy, responses to conjugate vaccine (PCV) under-investigated. There are currently no published data on serological response 13-valent PCV (PCV13) in the HIV-infected populations. We measured serotype-specific IgG 48 paHIV-infected child patients (CP), 27 young adult healthy controls (AHC) and 30 (CHC).
