Abstract A nation‐wide sero‐epidemiologic survey of adult T‐cell leukemia virus (ATLV), detected es anti‐ATLA (ATLV‐associated antigen), was made in Japan. Sera from donors 15 different locations were screened for anti‐ATLA. High incidences (6 to 37%) antibody‐positive found seven regions, one northern Japan, and the others southwestern regions. These areas are ATLV‐endemic corresponding ATL‐endemic areas. Examination sera healthy aged 6 80 years showed an age‐dependent increase seropositive...

Two-color fluorescence analysis revealed that Tac antigen, which was previously reported to be restricted T cells, expressed on a proportion of normal B cells activated by Staphylococcus aureus Cowan I (SAC). Immunoaffinity-purified interleukin 2 (IL-2) induced the proliferation SAC-activated and completely inhibited anti-Tac antibody, blocked membrane binding action IL-2. These results suggest an IL-2 receptor system is directly involved in cell immune response.

The "congestion index" is used to mean the ratio between cross-sectional area (cm2) and blood flow velocity (cm/sec) of portal vein, as determined by a duplex Doppler system. indices in normal subjects patients with liver disease were follows: (n = 85), 0.070 +/- 0.029 cm X sec; acute hepatitis 11), 0.071 0.014 chronic active 42) 0.119 0.084 cirrhosis 72), 0.171 0.075 idiopathic hypertension 0.180 0.107 sec. There was statistically significant difference congestion from subject group...

We studied the expression of interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor and proliferative response to exogenous IL-2 peripheral blood leukemic cells from patients with adult T cell leukemia (ATL) in order see whether expressed on ATL is different normal it plays a role neoplastic growth ATL. Peripheral 42 examined receptors that were detected by anti-Tac monoclonal antibody when immediately after separation or culture for 24 48 h. The number binding sites ranged 3,100 11,400 fresh 3,600 96,000/cell...

Abstract The ultrasonic duplex system, which is composed of a pulsed Doppler flow‐meter and linear array B‐mode scanner, was developed for the purpose quantitative transcutaneous measurement blood flow. It applied here to study portal flow in normal series with healthy volunteers as subjects. A preliminary experiment, prepared by setting up simulation model circulation, demonstrated an excellent correlation between values obtained electromagnetic flowmeter (EMF) combined system (duplex...

Clinical features and pathophysiology of postoperative hyperperfusion in moyamoya disease are still unclear. This study was aimed to clarify the incidence time course determine independent predictors disease. This prospective included 41 patients who underwent surgical revascularization for disease. Using (15)O-gas positron emission tomography, hemodynamic metabolic parameters were quantified before surgery. single photon computed cerebral blood flow serially measured just after surgery on 2...

Long-term outcomes are unknown in patients with asymptomatic moyamoya disease. In this report, we aimed to clarify their 5-year risk of stroke and its predictors. We conducting a multicenter, prospective cohort study (Asymptomatic Moyamoya Registry) Japan. Participants were eligible if they 20 70 years, had bilateral or unilateral disease, experienced no episodes suggestive TIA stroke; functionally independent (modified Rankin Scale score 0-1). Demographic radiological information was...

Abstract. The incidence of selective IgA deficiency (SIgAD) was determined in a healthy adult population 222,597 Japanese volunteer blood donors. Of the donors screened, only 0.007% (1:14,840) were found to be IgA‐deficient (less than 10 mg/dl) by means double diffusion method, while 0.005% (1:18,500) less 5 mg/dl, and 0.003% (1:31,800) 1 mg/dl single radial immunodiffusion method. Statistical analysis results clearly showed that SIgAD is very much lower European ancestry. may occupy unique...

Peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) from healthy donors stimulated repeatedly with ATLV-bearing cells.
