The Mycoplasma mycoides cluster consists of five species or subspecies that are ruminant pathogens. One subspecies, Small Colony (MmmSC), is the causative agent contagious bovine pleuropneumonia. Its very close relative, subsp. capri (Mmc), a more ubiquitous pathogen in small ruminants causing mastitis, arthritis, keratitis, pneumonia and septicaemia also found as saprophyte ear canal. To understand genetics underlying these phenotypic differences, we compared MmmSC PG1 type strain genome,...
Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae (Mccp) is the causative agent of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP), a devastating disease domestic goats. The exact distribution CCPP not known but it present in Africa and Middle East represents significant threat to many disease-free areas including Europe. Furthermore, has been recently identified Tajikistan China. A typing method with an improved resolution based on Multi-Locus Sequence Analysis (MLSA) developed trace new epidemics...
Among challenges that hamper reaping the benefits of genome assembly are both unfinished assemblies and ensuing experimental costs. First, numerous software solutions for de novo available, each having its advantages drawbacks, without clear guidelines as to how choose among them. Second, these produce draft often require a resource intensive finishing phase. In this paper we address two aspects by developing Mix , tool mixes or more assemblies, relying on reference goal reduce contig...
Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. "Small Colony" (MmmSC) is responsible for contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) in bovidae, a notifiable disease to the World Organization Animal Health (OIE). Although its origin not documented, was known Europe 1773. It reached nearly world-wide distribution 19th century through cattle trade and eradicated from most continents by stamping-out policies. During 20th it persisted Africa, reappeared sporadically Southern Europe. Yet, classical epidemiology studies...
Models of indirect (genetic) benefits sexual selection predict linkage disequilibria between genes that influence male traits and female preferences, owing to non-random mate choice or physical linkage. Such can accelerate the evolution preferences exaggerated levels. Both theory recent empirical findings on species recognition suggest such may result from pleiotropy, but very little work has addressed this possibility within context selection. We studied genetic architecture sexually...
Abstract A pneumonia outbreak reduced the numbers of a wild population endangered markhors (Capra falconeri) in Tajikistan 2010. The infection was diagnosed by histologic examination and bacteriologic testing. Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. sole infectious agent detected. Cross-species transmission from domestic goats may have occurred.
Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP), caused by Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae (Mccp), is a devastating disease of domestic goats and some wild ungulate species. The currently spreading in Africa Asia poses serious threat to disease-free areas. A comprehensive view the evolutionary history dynamics Mccp essential understand epidemiology CCPP. Yet, analysing diversity genetically monomorphic pathogens, such as Mccp, complicated due their low variability. In this study,...
Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae is the etiological agent of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia. We report here complete and annotated genome sequence M. strain 9231-Abomsa.
Abstract Our understanding of the viral communities associated to animals has not yet reached level attained on bacteriome. This situation is due to, among others, technical challenges in adapting metagenomics using high‐throughput sequencing study RNA viromes animals. Although important developments have been achieved most steps metagenomics, there a key step that received little attention: library preparation. differs from bacteriome studies which preparation largely contributed...
We report here the draft genome sequences of Mycoplasma alkalescens, arginini, and bovigenitalium. These three species are regularly isolated from bovine clinical specimens, although their role in disease is unclear.
The objectives of this study were to determine whether type 2 diabetic mice would exhibit a more severe renal impact hemorrhagic shock (HS) based on recently described model acute kidney injury and the HS responses hypoxia. We induced or sham procedure in obese db/db mice. Creatininemia, glomerular filtration rate, urine output, histologic score, inductible molecule 1 mRNA used investigate HS. Tissular hypoxia its quantified using pimonidazole immunostaining hypoxic inducible factor,...
We report here the draft genome sequences of Mycoplasma auris and yeatsii, two species commonly isolated from external ear canal Caprinae.
We characterized 10 variable microsatellite loci in the freshwater snail Biomphalaria kuhniana, as well conditions for multiplexing and co-loading sets of loci. Two to five alleles were detected per locus over two studied populations Venezuela. High inbreeding coefficients suggest high selfing rates. Cross-species amplification provided some variability at eight three other species belonging straminea complex (B. B. intermedia), but was unsuccessful more divergent species.
We characterized eight microsatellite loci to study spatial and temporal population structure of Pelodytes punctatus, a European anuran that has peculiar breeding pattern among amphibians. The proved be highly polymorphic with the number alleles per locus ranging from two 15 within populations. Cross-amplification indicates those markers may also useful for closely related species same family.
Abstract Multi-Locus Sequence Analysis (MLSA) of Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae ( Mccp ) strains from Asia revealed unforeseen diversity and a central position for genotyping groups representing Central/East Asia, suggesting possible origin contagious caprine pleuropneumonia in this continent. A better assessment the emergence, distribution Africa calls renewed efforts to dramatically enlarge sample strains. Availability affordability field, added superior typeability (directly...
Mycoplasma putrefaciens is one of the etiologic agents contagious agalactia in goats. We report herein complete genome sequence strain 9231.
