Key focus areas include applications artificial intelligence, use Big Data Internet Things, importance mathematical modeling predictions, utilization...
Background Hospital readmissions are associated with poor patient outcomes and increased health resource utilisation. The need to study readmission patterns is even bigger during a pandemic because the burden further stretching healthcare system. Methods We reviewed initial hospitalisation subsequent for 19 patients confirmed COVID-19 in largest statewide hospital network Rhode Island, US, from March 1st through April 19th, 2020. also compared characteristics clinical between readmitted...
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) remains challenging to treat and has dismal outcome. Allogeneic stem-cell transplantation (allo-SCT) promising results, but data remain scarce. In this single-center retrospective analysis of 100 patients with ATLL from north America (67 acute, 22 lymphomatous), 17 underwent allo-SCT 5 autologous SCT (ASCT), a median follow-up 65 months. Post-transplant 3-years relapse incidence (RI) non-relapse mortality (NRM) were 51% 37%, respectively, 3-year...
Long-term care facilities (LTCFs) have had a disproportionally high mortality rate due to COVID-19. We describe rapidly escalating COVID-19 outbreak among 116 LTCF residents in Rhode Island, USA. Overall, 111 (95.6%) tested positive and, of these, 48 (43.2%) died. The most common comorbidities were hypertension (84.7%) and cardiovascular disease (84.7%). A small percentage (9%) asymptomatic, while 33.3% pre-symptomatic, with progression symptoms within median three days following the test....
To assess the efficacy and safety of hydroxychloroquine with or without azithromycin) in hospitalized adult patients COVID-19. We utilized a hospital based prospective data registry. The primary end point was to impact azithromycin, on outcome, length hospitalization, time clinical improvement. treatment effects inverse-probability-weighting Cox proportional hazards models. All analyses accounted for age, gender, race, severity admission, days from symptoms onset chronic comorbidities. 36...
Thymosin-α-1 (Tα1) may be a treatment option for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but efficacy and safety data remain limited. Prospective, open-label, randomized trial assessing preliminary of thymalfasin (synthetic form Tα1), compared with the standard care, among hospitalized patients hypoxemia lymphocytopenia due to COVID-19. A total 49 were included in this analysis. Compared control patients, incidence clinical recovery was higher treated either baseline low-flow oxygen...
Vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent COVID-19. The aim of present study was assess incidence COVID-19 hospitalizations after vaccination, as well effect prior vaccination on hospitalization outcomes among patients with We analyzed and compared all consecutive patients, or without who were admitted our hospital network due from January April 2021. Our primary outcome identify describe cases hospitalized vaccination. also utilized a multivariate logistic regression model...
9133 Background: The use of ctDNA has emerged as an invaluable adjunct to tissue-based molecular testing, though it remains unclear if racial inequities associated with implementation exist. We sought assess disparities in frequency actionable alterations detected and utilization those results for treatment decisions a diverse urban population NSCLC patients. Methods: performed retrospective study patients who received Guardant testing from 11/2015-10/2022. Kaplan Meier curves log-rank tests...
Clinical trials for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have struggled to achieve diverse patient enrollment, despite underrepresented groups bearing the largest burden of and, presumably, being most in need treatments under investigation. To assess willingness patients enroll into inpatient COVID-19 clinical when invited, we conducted a cross-sectional analysis adults hospitalized with who were approached regarding enrollment. Associations between and temporal factors enrollment assessed by...
e16079 Background: EC is a fatal condition, and recent literature suggests the association of HP with esophageal adenocarcinoma. In this study, we elucidate outcomes infection in EC. Methods: This retrospective longitudinal study from 2016-2020, using nationwide inpatient sample database United States (US). Patients without were selected. The baseline characteristics compared T-test Chi-Square. Multivariate regression analysis was applied to estimate (length hospital stay (LOS), mortality,...
11040 Background: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is another paradigm-shifting advancement for hematologic malignancies, creating unprecedented treatment options. However, there still a lack of knowledge and understanding among patients regarding this novel therapy. Most turn to online resources, ranging from social media federal websites, gather health information supplement decision-making. Given that the average American adult reads between sixth- eighth-grade levels,...
