The structure of the glycosomal glyceraldehyde‐3‐phosphate dehydrogenase (gGAPDH) from Trypanosoma cruzi complexed with chalepin, a natural product Pilocarpus spicatus , has been determined by X‐ray crystallography to 1.95 Å resolution. is in apo form without cofactors subunits tetrameric gGAPDH asymmetric unit. Unequivocal density corresponding inhibitor was clearly identified one monomer. final refined model complex shows extensive conformational changes when compared native structure....
A fungal strain of Aspergillus sp. (BRF 030) was isolated from the sediments collected in northeast coast Brazil, and cytotoxic activity its secondary metabolites investigated against HCT-116 tumour cell line. The cytotoxicity-guided fractionation extracts this fungus cultured potato-dextrose-sea water for 14 days at room temperature yielded hetero-spirocyclic γ-lactams pseurotin (1), D (2) FD-838 (7), alkaloids fumitremorgin C (5), 12,13-dihydroxy (6), methylsulochrin (4)...
Abstract The cytotoxic activities of extracts (50 μg/ml) from 48 fungal strains, recovered sediments Pecém's offshore port terminal (Northeast coast Brazil), against HCT‐116 colon cancer cell lines were investigated. most promising extract was obtained strain BRF082, identified as Dichotomomyces cejpii by phylogenetic analyses partial RPB2 gene sequence. Thus, it selected for bioassay‐guided isolation the compounds. Large‐scale fermentation BRF082 in potato dextrose broth, followed...
Abstract Crude extracts of Rutales species were tested in vitro against the trypomastigote form Trypanosoma cruzi at 4 mg/mL, and 20% them showed significant activity (80%). Their inhibitory glycolytic enzyme GAPDH from T. has also been evaluated concentrations 100 200 mg/mL. Additionally, 13 purified coumarins assayed cruzi-GAPDH. Chalepin was most active substance with IC50 = 64 mM. The 3D structure complex chalepin-enzyme elucidated by X-ray crystallography, revealing architecture...

In the search for new larvicides from plants, we have investigated potential activity of rotenoids deguelin (1), 12a-hydroxy-α-toxicarol (2) and tephrosin (3), isolated bioactive ethanol extract roots Tephrosia toxicaria Pers., against Aedes aegypti, main vector dengue. The absolute configuration these compounds was determined by circular dichroism (CD) spectra. LC50 values evaluated justify T. as a natural larvicide.
This study investigated the seasonal variation (October 2009 to September 2010) in chemical composition of leaf essential oil Ruta graveolens L. and evaluated its activity against third-instar larvae Aedes aegypti juvenile nematodes (J2) Meloidogyne incognita. The was obtained by hydrodistillation analyzed gas chromatography/flame ionization detection (GC/FID) GC/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Nine compounds were identified samples during a year. major components 2-undecanone (37.0±2.0%...
ABSTRACT Histoplasmosis is a severe infection that affects millions of patients worldwide and endemic in the Americas. Amphotericin B (AMB) itraconazole are highly effective for treatment milder forms disease, but AMB toxic, bioavailability erratic. Therefore, it important to investigate new classes drugs histoplasmosis treatment. In this study, series nine isoniazid hydrazone derivatives were synthesized evaluated their antifungal activities vitro against dimorphic fungus Histoplasma...
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from ten endophytic fungal species belonging to the Botryosphaeriaceae family were extracted by headspace-solid phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) and analyzed gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).Thirty-four VOCs identified. Most of are sesquiterpenes (14 non-oxygenated 10 oxygenated), two linear ketones eight alcohols also identified.Multivariate data analysis (PCA HCA) allowed differentiation all investigated species, proved be efficient for...
Prospect of antibacterial agents may provide an alternative therapy for diseases caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro bioactivity Moringa oleifera seed extracts against 100 vibrios isolated from marine shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei . Ethanol at low (MOS-E) and hot (MOS-ES) temperature are shown be bioactive 92% 90% strains, respectively. The most efficient Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) levels MOS-E MOS-ES a high percentage strains were 32 µ...
STUDY OF THE Tephrosia toxicaria Pers. The ethanol extracts from leaves, stems, pods and roots were assayed against the 3 rd instar Aedes aegypti larvae highest activity was observed in (LC 50 47.86 ppm). This extract submitted to partition with hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate methanol. The respective fractions bioassayed best larvicidal activities identified hexane 23.99ppm) chloroform 13.80 ppm) fractions.Antioxidant (DDPH method) (IC 276 µg/mL) of T. toxicaria.Fractions this also tested...
This paper provides information about a multilingual (Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, and French) virtual card game for computers smartphones. Facing the disruption caused by Covid-19 pandemic, this allows students to play remotely or face-to-face with friends in fun cooperative environment review topics related structural theory of organic compounds simultaneously. Brazilian Italian undergraduate played evaluated positively. Also, learning assessments revealed that promotes...
The phytopatogenic fungus Lasiodiplodia theobromae, isolated from guava, was cultivated in rice for 32 days at room temperature. Extraction with CH2Cl2:MeOH (3:7), followed by chromatography fractionation of the extract provided ergosterol. From culture Czapeck medium 40 temperature, were isocoumarin cis-4-hydroxymeleine and an eremophilane-type sesquiterpene. latter compound is being reported first time literature. Also, this that eremophilane sesquiterpene described genus.
