Orchidaceae is one of the largest, most diverse families in angiosperms with significant ecological and economical values. Orchids have long fascinated scientists by their complex life histories, exquisite floral morphology pollination syndromes that exhibit exclusive specializations, more than any other plants on Earth. These intrinsic factors together human influences also make it a keystone group biodiversity conservation. The advent sequencing technologies transgenic techniques...
Epipogium roseum, commonly known as one of the ghost orchids due to its rarity and almost transparent color, is a non-photosynthetic fully mycoheterotrophic plant. Given special nutritional strategies evolutionary significance, mitogenome was first characterized, three plastomes sampled from Asia were assembled. The found be smallest among Orchidaceae, with lengths ranging 18,339 19,047 bp, exhibited high sequence variety. For mitogenome, total 414,552 bp in length, comprising 26 circular...
Abstract Monocots are a major taxon within flowering plants, have unique morphological traits, and show an extraordinary diversity in lifestyle. To improve our understanding of monocot origin evolution, we generate chromosome-level reference genomes the diploid Acorus gramineus tetraploid Ac. calamus , only two accepted species from family Acoraceae, which form sister lineage to all other monocots. Comparing suggest that is not potential progenitor allotetraploid with subgenomes A, B,...
Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a flavoured and healthy compounds in tea, is affected by the ecological factors. However, biosynthetic mechanisms of EGCG response to factors remian unclear. In this study, surface method with Box-Behnken design was used investigate relationship between accumulation factors; further, integrative transcriptome metabolome analyses were performed explore mechanism underlying biosynthesis environmental The optimal conditions obtained for as follows: 28℃, 70 %...
A new species of Cymbidium (Orchidaceae) from Hubei Province, China, is described as C. huikanran, which like kanran and faberi. Morphologically, it can be distinguished the former by its basally non-articulate leaves, arching, short scape; latter narrowly oblong-lanceolate sepals ovate-lanceolate petals. Molecular analysis based on nuclear ribosomal ITS plastid sequences (matK rbcL) clearly indicated that a sister to faberi in subgenus Jensoa.
The GRAS gene family encodes transcription factors that participate in plant growth and development phases. They are crucial regulating light signal transduction, hormone (e.g. gibberellin) signaling, meristem growth, root radial development, response to abiotic stress, etc. However, little is known about the features functions of genes Orchidaceae, largest most diverse angiosperm lineage. In this study, genome-wide analysis was conducted Dendrobium chrysotoxum (Epidendroideae, Orchidaceae)...
The TCP gene family are plant-specific transcription factors that play important roles in plant growth and development. Dendrobium chrysotoxum, D. nobile, huoshanense orchids with a high ornamental value, but few studies have investigated the specific functions of TCPs flower In this study, we used these three species to analyze TCPs, examining their physicochemical properties, phylogenetic relationships, structures, expression profiles. A total 50 were identified across species; they...
TCP gene family are specific transcription factors for plant, and considered to play an important role in development growth. However, few related studies investigated the trait how it plays a growth of Orchidaceae. In this study, we obtained 14 genes ( CgTCPs ) from Spring Orchid Cymbidium goeringii genome. The classification results showed that were mainly divided into two clades as follows: four PCF (Class I), nine CIN one CYC II). sequence analysis proteins C. contain conserved regions...
Mulberry is an economically important plant in the sericulture industry and traditional medicine. However, genetic evolutionary history of mulberry remains largely unknown. Here, this work presents chromosome-level genome assembly Morus atropurpurea (M. atropurpurea), originating from south China. Population genomic analysis using 425 accessions reveal that cultivated classified into two species, M. alba, which may have originated different progenitors independent parallel domestication...
SPL transcription factors regulate important processes such as plant growth and development, metabolic regulation, abiotic stress. They play crucial roles in the development of flower organs. However, little is known about characteristics functions SPLs Orchidaceae. In this study, Cymbidium goeringii Rchb. f., Dendrobium chrysotoxum Lindl., Gastrodia elata BI. were used research objects. The gene family these orchids was analyzed on a genome-wide scale, their physicochemical properties,...
After examining morphological, molecular and genome-size evidence, we here describe a new orchid species, Apostasia fujianica, from Fujian, China. Morphological comparisons indicated that A. fujianica is similar to shenzhenica nipponica, whereas the former displayed distinct differences in habit, roots, leaves, inflorescences fruit shape size. (341 Mb) has smaller genome size than (471 Mb), ramifera (366 fogangica (931 Mb). Molecular analyses combined nuclear (ITS, Xdh, naD1) plastid (matK,...
With a great diversity of species, Orchidaceae stands out as an essential component plant biodiversity, making it primary resource for studying angiosperms evolution and genomics. This study focuses on 13 published orchid genomes to identify analyze the CYP75 gene family belonging cytochrome P450 superfamily, which is closely related flavonoid biosynthetic enzymes pigment regulation. We found 72 CYP75s in further classified them into two classes: CYP75A CYP75B subfamily, former synthesizes...
Containing the largest number of species, orchid family provides not only materials for studying plant evolution and environmental adaptation, but economically culturally important ornamental plants human society. Previously, we collected genome transcriptome information Dendrobium catenatum, Phalaenopsis equestris, Apostasia shenzhenica which belong to two different subfamilies Orchidaceae, developed user-friendly tools explore genetic sequences in OrchidBase 4.0. The 4.0 offers opportunity...
The small plant-specific YABBY gene family plays key roles in diverse developmental processes plants. Dendrobium chrysotoxum, D. huoshanense, and nobile are perennial herbaceous plants belonging to Orchidaceae with a high ornamental value. However, the relationships specific functions of genes species remain unknown. In this study, six DchYABBYs, nine DhuYABBYs, DnoYABBYs were identified from genome databases three species, which unevenly distributed on five, eight, chromosomes,...
Abstract Seed plants comprise angiosperms and gymnosperms. The latter includes gnetophytes, cycads, Ginkgo, conifers. Conifers are distributed worldwide, with 630 species across eight families 70 genera. Their distinctiveness has triggered much debate on their origin, evolution, phylogenetic placement among seed plants. To better understand the evolution of gymnosperms relation to other plants, we report here a high-quality genome sequence for tree species, Chinese fir ( Cunninghamia...
The PEBP gene family plays a significant role in regulating flower development and formation. To understand its function Dendrobium chrysotoxum D. nobile flowering, we identified 22 genes (11 DchPEBPs 11 DnoPEBPs) from both species. We conducted analyses on their conserved domains motifs, phylogenetic relationships, chromosome distribution, collinear correlation, cis elements. classification results showed that the PEBPs were mainly divided into three clades, as follows: FT, MFT, TFL1. A...
Members of the YABBY gene family play significant roles in lamina development cotyledons, floral organs, and other lateral organs. The Orchidaceae is one largest angiosperm groups. Some YABBYs have been reported Orchidaceae. However, function genes Cymbidium currently unknown. In this study, 24 were identified ensifolium, C. goeringii, sinense.
