The incidence of nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease (NTMPD) is increasing worldwide. Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax occurs as a complication underlying lung and associated with higher morbidity, mortality, recurrence than primary pneumothorax. We here investigated the clinical features long-term outcomes NTMPD. conducted retrospective study on consecutive adult patients NTMPD at Fukujuji Hospital Keio University from January 1992 to December 2013. reviewed medical records 69...

Globally, tuberculosis is the leading infectious cause of death; discovering biomarkers that predict a high mortality risk may improve treatment outcomes. We prospectively enrolled 252 pulmonary patients who were not coinfected with human immunodeficiency virus and initiated antituberculosis treatment, measured serum procalcitonin levels (PCT), assessed risk. PCT higher than 0.13 (day 0), 0.05 7), 0.12 14), or 0.06 28) ng/mL predicted nonsurvivors odds ratios 7.9, 14.3, 20.0, 7.3,...

Evidence of characteristics Japanese patients with diabetes from a large-scale population is necessary. Few studies have compared glycaemic controls, complications and comorbidities between type 1 2 diabetic patients. This paper focuses on illustrating clinical picture comparing control prognoses using multi-institutional data. The BioBank Japan Project enrolled adult fiscal years 2003 2007. We report the case of a 61-year-old woman with rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease caused by clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis. Both serum ferritin and anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5) antibody levels were elevated at time admission. Despite intensive treatment corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, immunoglobulins polymyxin B direct hemoperfusion, patient died 75 days after symptom onset. Over course treatment, anti-MDA5 level continually decreased, while...

Humidifier lung is a phenotype of hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) caused by the inhalation humidifier vapours. A recent study comparing with summer-type HP reported several distinct features, including lower serum Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) levels, less common centrilobular ground-glass nodules on computed tomography scan and higher ratio CD4+ to CD8+ cells in bronchoalveolar lavage.1 However, features mechanisms are not well characterized. Indicators for discrimination from other...

Abstract Introduction: Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) sometimes show persistent severe inflammation for more than 1 month, even if TB treatment is effective. Although this can be improved through continuous antituberculous therapy, the risk factors remain unclear. Therefore, we sought to study characteristics of patients inflammation. Materials and methods: We retrospectively analyzed 147 hospitalized adult C-reactive protein (CRP) levels 5 mg/dL or on admission Fukujuji Hospital...

Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized the field of natural language processing. These models can analyze vast amounts data, extract meaningful insights, and provide a basis for informed conservation decisions. This paper identifies three main applications LLMs ecology biodiversity conservation: 1) generating codes modeling simulations, 2) data collection from digital 3) providing insights into public opinion sentiment. He had hypoxemia, high white blood cells C-reactive protein, moderate right-sided pleural effusion on radiographic imaging.
