Abstract Guidelines for the management of patients with sporotrichosis were prepared by an Expert Panel Infectious Diseases Society America and replace guidelines published in 2000. The are intended use internists, pediatricians, family practitioners, dermatologists. They include evidence-based recommendations lymphocutaneous, cutaneous, pulmonary, osteoarticular, meningeal, disseminated sporotrichosis. Recommendations also provided treatment pregnant women children.

Although Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) clinical breakpoints (CBPs) are available for interpreting echinocandin MICs Candida spp., epidemiologic cutoff values (ECVs) based on collective MIC data from multiple laboratories have not been defined. While collating CLSI caspofungin 145 to 11,550 isolates 17 (Brazil, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Peru, the United States), we observed an extraordinary amount of modal variability (wide ranges) among as well truncated bimodal...

Objectives: A multinational, multicentre, open-label clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of posaconazole, an extended-spectrum triazole antifungal agent, in subjects with invasive fungal infections who had refractory disease or were intolerant standard therapy. In this subanalysis, we report on those a infection that involved CNS.

We conducted a phase 2, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the safety and antifungal activity of adjuvant recombinant interferon (rlFN)-γ1b in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome acute cryptococcal meningitis. Patients received 100 or 200μg rIFN-γ1b placebo, thrice weekly for 10 weeks, plus standard therapy intravenous amphotericin B, without flucytosine, followed by fluconazole. End points included conversion cerebrospinal fluid fungal cultures from positive...

Sporotrichosis is a sporadic and rare mycotic infection in most of the developed world. In many parts developing world, sporotrichosis much more commonly recognized, but epidemiological data are generally lacking from these regions. We report epidemiological, clinical, treatment 238 cases culture-proven occurring relatively remote area south central highlands Peru that were retrospectively collected during 1995–1997. Eumycetoma and chromoblastomycosis are chronic, disfiguring fungal infections of the subcutaneous tissue that rarely resolve spontaneously. Most patients do not achieve sustained long-term benefits from available treatments; therefore, new therapeutic options needed. We evaluated efficacy posaconazole, a extended-spectrum triazole antifungal agent, in 12 with eumycetoma or refractory to existing therapies. Posaconazole 800 mg/d was given divided doses for maximum 34 months. Complete partial...
