This report demonstrates that a rapid decrease of peripheral T cell subsets is unique characteristic in patients with SARS during acute infection, although total white blood counts, red and platelet counts remain relatively normal. In recovering patients, dramatic restoration was seen the periphery. Although underlying mechanism observed stage remains unknown, this clinical can facilitate an earlier more accurate diagnosis SARS.

Aging is a major risk factor for several conditions including neurodegenerative, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Functional impairments in cellular pathways controlling genomic stability, immune control have been identified. Biomarker of senescence needed to improve vaccine response develop therapy control. To identify phenotypic signature circulating cells with aging, we enrolled 1068 Chinese healthy volunteers ranging from 18 80 years old. The decreased naïve CD4+ CD8+ T cells,...

This paper studies the electric vehicle (EV) charging scheduling problem to match stochastic wind power. Besides considering optimality of expected cost, proposed model innovatively incorporates matching degree between power and EV load into objective function. Fully taking account uncertainty dynamics in energy supply demand, this multistage is formulated as a Markov decision process. In order enhance computational efficiency, effort made two aspects. Firstly, size reduced by aggregating...

With the rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs), consequent charging demand represents a significant new load on power grids. The huge number high-rise buildings in big cities and modern technological advances have created conditions to mount on-site wind generators buildings. Since are usually equipped with large parking lots for EVs, it shows vital practical significance utilize generation charge EVs parked In this paper, we first use case study Beijing show that can potentially...

Composition of the gut microbiota has been linked with human immunedeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART). Evidence suggests that ART-treated poor CD4+ T-cell recovery have higher levels microbial translocation and immune activation. However, association remains unclear. Background. Approximately 20% of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)--infected adults do not normalize their CD4+ T lymphocytes after long-term effective highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). The mechanistic basis for this failure is unclear. Methods. Seventy-four patients were followed up regularly 3–7 years. Patients with undetectable plasma viral load (<50 copies/mL) over 12 months further classified into 2 groups: (1) immunological nonresponders, whose T-cell count was...

Most of the individuals infected with SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) spontaneously recovered without clinical intervention. However, immunological correlates associated patients' recovery are currently unknown.
