The α-chain of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor carries binding sites both for cholinergic ligands and most experimentally induced or naturally occurring antibodies to native receptor. By means expression cloning in Escherichia coli , fusion proteins were derived from specific fragments a complementary DNA encoding mouse α-chain, allowing mapping toxin-binding site residues 160-216 main immunogenic region 6-85. We compared the long-term results of minimally invasive endourological intervention and open surgical revision in patients with a nonmalignant ureteroileal stricture. We retrospectively evaluated records 74 (85 renal units) treated for unilateral or bilateral strictures. Overall, 96 35 procedures were performed. Balloon dilatation Acucise® Ho:YAG laser endoureterotomy used as interventions. Open stricture resection end-to-side-reanastomosis was alternate therapy. Treatment success defined...

Fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs) are activated by mutation and overexpressed in bladder cancers (BCs), FGFR inhibitors currently being evaluated clinical trials BC patients. However, cells display marked heterogeneity their responses to inhibitors, the biological mechanisms underlying this not well defined. Here we used a novel inhibitor of FGFRs 1–3 RNAi determine effects inhibiting FGFR1 or FGFR3 panel human cell lines. We observed that was expressed also "mesenchymal" markers...

Background: Low bone mass and fractures are common among kidney stone formers, yet it remains unclear whether thiazides can help preserve mass. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a range hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) doses compared placebo on mineral density (BMD) over three-year period. Methods: This post-hoc analysis was conducted data from NOSTONE trial, multicenter, randomized, controlled study. A total 416 adults with recurrent calcium stones participated in study, receiving either...

Abstract Despite the possible benefit from avoiding stone surgery with all its complications, oral chemolysis is rarely performed in patients urinary stones suspected of uric acid content. Among reasons for limited use sparse and low-quality data on efficacy lack reliable factors predicting outcome. We thus a retrospective single-center cohort study 216 (median patient age 63 years) 272 renal (48%) and/or ureteral (52%) treated 01/2010 to 12/2019. Patients low urine pH (< 6), density upon...

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) to the main immunogenic region (MIR) bind fusion proteins containing 37-200 of alpha chain Torpedo, mouse, and chicken nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. In case mouse chain, these mAbs react with sequence 61-216 but not 74-216. A synthetic peptide M1, residues 61-76 also binds anti-MIR mAbs, showing that all or part their binding site is included in this region. The conformational dependence epitope specificity are discussed.
