The electric form factor of the neutron was determined from studies reaction ${}^{3}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{\mathrm{He}}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{e},{e}^{\ensuremath{'}}n)pp$ in quasielastic kinematics Hall A at Jefferson Lab. Longitudinally polarized electrons were scattered off a target which nuclear polarization oriented perpendicular to momentum transfer. detected magnetic spectrometer coincidence with neutrons that registered large-solid-angle detector. More than...
We present an updated extraction of the proton electromagnetic form factor ratio, ${\ensuremath{\mu}}_{p}{G}_{E}/{G}_{M}$, at low ${Q}^{2}$. The factors are sensitive to spatial distribution proton, and precise measurements can be used constrain models proton. An improved selection elastic events reduced background contributions yielded a small systematic reduction in ratio ${\ensuremath{\mu}}_{p}{G}_{E}/{G}_{M}$ compared original analysis.
Mass measurements of the $^{69}$As, $^{70,71}$Se and $^{71}$Br isotopes, produced via fragmentation a $^{124}$Xe primary beam at FRS GSI, have been performed with multiple-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MR-TOF-MS) Ion Catcher an unprecedented resolving power almost 1,000,000. For $^{69}$As isotope, this is first direct measurement. A uncertainty 22 keV was achieved only 10 events. $^{70}$Se 2.6 obtained, corresponding to relative accuracy $\delta$m/m = 4.0$\times 10^{-8}$, less...
A novel system has been developed to detect simultaneous double-alpha emission from purified and weightless sources. The includes the collection of 224Ra low-energy recoils in helium buffer gas decay 228Th. recoil products are thermalized collected a cryogenic cell extracted into an RF-ion guide for mass selection. mass-separated ions implanted at low kinetic energy thin carbon foil placed between two large-area double-sided silicon strip detectors observe correlated alpha-particle emission....
Isotopes at the limits of nuclear existence are great interest for their critical role in astrophysical reactions and exotic structure. Experimentally, nuclides challenging to address due low production cross-sections, overwhelming amounts contamination, lifetimes typically less than a second. To this end, Multiple-Reflection Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer TITAN-TRIUMF facility was built determine atomic masses. This device is preferred tool work with its ability resolve species from...
High-accuracy mass measurements of neutron-deficient Yb isotopes have been performed at TRIUMF using TITAN's multiple-reflection time-of-flight spectrometer (MR-TOF-MS). For the first time, an MR-TOF-MS was used on line simultaneously as isobar separator and a spectrometer, extending to two further away from stability than otherwise possible. The ground state masses $^{150,153}\mathrm{Yb}$ excitation energy $^{151}{\mathrm{Yb}}^{m}$ were measured for time. As result, persistence $N=82$ shell...
Direct mass measurements of neutron-deficient nuclides around the $N=50$ shell closure below $^{100}$Sn were performed at FRS Ion Catcher (FRS-IC) GSI, Germany. The nuclei produced by projectile fragmentation $^{124}$Xe, separated in fragment separator and delivered to FRS-IC. masses 14 ground states two isomers measured with relative uncertainties down $1\times 10^{-7}$ using multiple-reflection time-of-flight spectrometer FRS-IC, including first direct $^{98}$Cd $^{97}$Rh. A new...
High-precision measurements of the proton elastic form-factor ratio, ${\ensuremath{\mu}}_{p}{G}_{E}^{p}/{G}_{M}^{p}$, have been made at four-momentum transfer, ${Q}^{2}$, values between 0.2 and $0.5\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$. The new data, while consistent with previous results, clearly show a ratio less than unity significant differences from central several recent phenomenological fits. By combining data an existing cross-section measurement, one finds that in this ${Q}^{2}$ range...
A multiple-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MR-TOF-MS) has been installed and integrated into the TITAN experiment at TRIUMF. The MR-TOF-MS extends capabilities improves performance of experiment, for instance it provides fast isobar separation, short measurement cycles, yield measurements broad-band beam diagnosis, enhanced rate dynamic range. Thereby, even more exotic nuclides become accessible experiments. Such improved have used in first experiments to investigate sub-shell...
We report on new p(e,e′p)π∘ measurements at the Δ+(1232) resonance low momentum transfer region, where mesonic cloud dynamics is predicted to be dominant and rapidly changing, offering a test bed for chiral effective field theory calculations. The data explore Q2 dependence of resonant quadrupole amplitudes first time indicate that Electric Coulomb converge as Q2→0. amplitude have been extended lowest ever reached, suggest more than half its magnitude attributed in this region. disagree with...
We present first preliminary results of a novel method for measuring independent isotopic fission yields (IIFYs) spontaneous (SF) via direct mass measurements, at the FRS Ion Catcher (FRS-IC) GSI. Fission products were generated from 252 Cf source installed in cryogenic stopping cell, and identified counted with multiple-reflection time-of-flight spectrometer (MR-TOF-MS) FRS-IC, utilizing well-established measurement data analysis methods. The MR-TOF-MS resolves isobars unambiguously, even...
Abstract The production of very neutron-rich nuclides heavier than fission fragments is an ongoing experimental challenge. Multi-nucleon transfer reactions (MNT) have been suggested as a method to produce these nuclides. By thermalizing the reaction products in gas-filled stopping cells, we can deliver them cooled high-quality beams decay, laser and mass spectrometry experiments. High precision will allow for first time universally unambiguously identify atomic proton numbers ions produced...
The FRS Ion Catcher at GSI enables precision experiments with thermalized projectile and fission fragments. At the same time it serves as a test facility for Low-Energy Branch of Super-FRS FAIR. has been commissioned its performance characterized in five 238U 124Xe fragments produced energies range from 300 to 1000 MeV/u. High almost element-independent efficiencies thermalization short-lived nuclides relativistic have obtained. High-accuracy mass measurements more than 30 performed...
We present a direct method to measure fission product yield distributions (FPY) and isomeric ratios (IYR) for spontaneous (SF) fragments. These physical properties are of utmost importance the understanding basic nuclear physics, astrophysical rapid neutron capture process ('r process') nucleosynthesis, star composition, reactor safety. With this method, fragments produced by from source that is mounted in cryogenic stopping cell (CSC), thermalized stopped within it, then extracted...
