Abstract Neonatal seizures are a common emergency in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). There many questions yet to be answered regarding temporal/spatial characteristics of from different pathologies, response medication, effects on neurodevelopment and optimal detection. The dataset presented this descriptor contains EEG recordings human neonates, visual interpretation by experts, supporting clinical data codes assist access. Multi-channel was recorded 79 term neonates admitted NICU...

We combined information from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) to assess which cortical areas in temporal order show macroscopic activation after right median nerve stimulation. Five healthy subjects were studied with the two modalities, both revealed significant contra- ipsilateral primary somatosensory cortex (SI), opercular areas, walls of contralateral postcentral sulcus (PoCS), supplementary motor area (SMA). In fMRI, separate foci discerned,...

Developmental language disorder (DLD, also called specific impairment, SLI) is a common developmental comprising the largest disability group in pre-school-aged children. Approximately 7% of population expected to have difficulties. However, etiological factors leading DLD are not yet known and even typical linguistic features appear vary by language. We present here project that investigates at multiple levels analysis aims make reliable prediction early identification difficulties...

Abstract Epilepsy presurgical investigation may include focal intracortical single-pulse electrical stimulations with depth electrodes, which induce cortico-cortical evoked potentials at distant sites because of white matter connectivity. Cortico-cortical provide a unique window on functional brain networks they contain sufficient information to infer dynamical properties large-scale connectivity, such as preferred directionality and propagation latencies. Here, we developed biologically...

<b><i>Objective:</i></b> To correlate the phenotypes with genotypes of 10 Finnish juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (JNCL; late-onset Batten disease) patients who all are compound heterozygotes for major 1.02-kb deletion in <i>CLN3</i> gene. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> The mutations on non–1.02-kb chromosomes were screened 6 patients; other 4 known (one affecting a splice site, two missense mutations, and one exons through 13). Clinical features examined, MRI, MRS, somatosensory evoked...

Abstract Cerebral palsy (CP) is characterized by difficulty in control of movement and posture due to brain damage during early development. In addition, tactile discrimination deficits are prevalent CP. To study the function somatosensory motor systems CP, we compared reactivity sensorimotor cortical oscillations median nerve stimulation 12 hemiplegic CP children vs. typically developing using magnetoencephalography. We also determined primary representation areas affected hand...

Abstract Background Extremely low gestational age newborns (ELGANs) are at risk of neurodevelopmental impairments that may originate in early NICU care. We hypothesized oxygen saturations (SpO 2 ), arterial pO levels, and supplemental (FiO ) would associate with later neuroanatomic changes. Methods SpO , blood gases, FiO from 73 ELGANs (GA 26.4 ± 1.2; BW 867 179 g) during the first 3 postnatal days were correlated white matter injury (WM, MRI, n = 69), secondary cortical somatosensory...

PurposePathogenic variants in SETD1B have been associated with a syndromic neurodevelopmental disorder including intellectual disability, language delay, and seizures. To date, clinical features described for 11 patients (likely) pathogenic sequence variants. The authors analyzed the clinical phenotype, including MRI, of eight patients with Finnish variant late infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (vLINCLFin; CLN5; MIM256731). Although four known mutations, one novel mutation identified in this study, have very different consequences for predicted polypeptide, none them results an atypical as has been reported other forms NCL. Thus, it seems likely that each severely disturbs normal function CLN5 protein.
