We present measurements of the pseudorapidity (η) distribution charged particles (dNchdη) produced within |η|≤3.5 in proton-antiproton collisions at √s 630 and 1800 GeV. measure dNchdη η=0 to be 3.18±0.06(stat)±0.10(syst) GeV, 3.95±0.03 (stat)±0.13(syst) Many systematic errors ratio two energies cancel, we 1.26±0.01±0.04 for GeV that |η|≤3. Comparing lower-energy data, observe an increase faster than ln(s) η=0.Received 2 October 1989DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.41.2330©1990 American...

Glucocorticoid receptor (GR) antagonism may be of considerable therapeutic value in stress-related psychopathology such as depression. However, blockade all GR-dependent processes the brain will lead to unnecessary and even counteractive effects, elevated endogenous cortisol levels. Selective GR modulators are ligands that can act both agonist antagonist used separate beneficial from harmful treatment effects. We have discovered high-affinity ligand C108297 is a selective modulator rat...
Background: Overexpression of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) is frequently detected in gastric cancer and believed to play a crucial role carcinogenesis. Aim: We examined the chemopreventive effect COX-2 inhibitor an animal model stomach Methods: Eighty six male Wistar rats were divided into different treatment groups: group A, water alone (n = 5); B, N-methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG 100 μg/ml) 16); C, indomethacin (3 mg/kg/day) D, celecoxib (5...

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects 5–10% percent of the US adult population with a higher prevalence among women compared men. Although it remains unclear how biological sex associates susceptibility to PTSD, one mechanism may involve role for estrogen in gene by environment interaction. We previously demonstrated sex-dependent association between pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide type 1 receptor (PAC1) and where carriers C allele at single-nucleotide polymorphism...
The bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST) is a forebrain region highly responsive to stress that expresses corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and implicated in mood disorders, such as anxiety. However, exact mechanism by which chronic induces CRH-mediated dysfunction BNST maladaptive behaviors remains unclear. Here, we first confirmed selective acute optogenetic activation oval (ovBNST) increases avoidance male mice. Next, found 6 week variable mild (CVMS) paradigm resulted increased...
Coronary atherosclerotic heart disease is an important, worldwide burden on human health. Central muscle infarction the most dangerous condition, has highest mortality and disability rates, gradually becoming more common among young people. After myocardial infarction, neutrophils recruited to infarcted area promote inflammatory response by releasing proinflammatory factors chemokines release matrix metalloproteinases myeloperoxidases that degrade extracellular produce reactive oxygen...

Background Chronic stress or prolonged administration of glucocorticoids suppresses proliferation and/or survival newborn cells in adult rat dentate gyrus. Earlier we showed that the glucocorticoid receptor antagonist mifepristone during final 4 days a 21 period corticosterone treatment fully normalized number cells. Here aimed to better understand how achieves this effect and questioned whether an even shorter (single day) (instead days) also suffices normalize neurogenesis. Methods We...
Abstract Early-life stress (ELS) leads to stress-related psychopathology in adulthood. Although dysfunction of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) signaling the bed nucleus stria terminalis (BNST) mediates chronic stress-induced maladaptive affective behaviors that are historically associated with mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, it remains unknown whether ELS affects CRH function adult BNST. Here we applied a well-established paradigm (24 h maternal separation (MS) at...

Inclusive jet production at √s=1.8 TeV has been measured in the CDF detector Fermilab Tevatron ¯pp Collider. Jets with transverse energies (Et) up to 250 GeV have observed. The Et dependence of inclusive cross section is consistent leading-order quantum-chromodynamic calculations, and comparison lower-energy data shows deviations from scaling QCD. Seroprevalence data from 1501 subjects was used to test the hypothesis that Helicobacter pylori may be transmitted by fecaloral route. Antibody hepatitis A virus as a marker of fecal-oral exposure. Of subjects, 35.5% were seropositive for both H. and A, 19.1%were seronegative both, 36.5% only, 8.8% only. Cross-sectional rural areas supported an association between pylori. However, in urban area there no evidence infection persons <10 years old, yet seroprevalence high this group (∼ 32%)....
