The fusion-evaporation reaction Pu244(Ca48,3−4n)114288,289 was studied at the new gas-filled recoil separator TASCA. Thirteen correlated decay chains were observed and assigned to production of 114288,289. At a compound nucleus excitation energy E*=39.8–43.9 MeV, 4n evaporation channel cross section 9.8−3.1+3.9 pb. E*=36.1–39.5 that 3n 8.0−4.5+7.4 In one chains, previously unobserved α branch in Ds281 (probability be random origin from background: 0.1%). This populated Hs277, which decayed...
Experiments with the new recoil separator, Transactinide Separator and Chemistry Apparatus (TASCA), at GSI were performed by using beams of $^{48}\mathrm{Ca}$ to irradiate targets $^{206\ensuremath{-}208}\mathrm{Pb}$, which led production $^{252\ensuremath{-}254}\mathrm{No}$ isotopes. These studies allowed for evaluation performance TASCA when coupled a detector electronics system. By following these studies, isotopes element 114 (${}^{288\ensuremath{-}291}$114) produced in irradiations...
The electron shell structure of superheavy elements, i.e., elements with atomic number Z ≥ 104, is influenced by strong relativistic effects caused the high Z. Early calculations on element 112 (copernicium, Cn) and 114 (flerovium, Fl) having closed quasi-closed configurations 6d107s2 6d107s27p1/22, respectively, predicted them to be noble-gas-like due very 7s 7p1/2 valence orbitals. Recent fully studying Cn Fl in different environments suggest less reactive compared their lighter homologues...
Every atom counts: New data for the adsorption chromatographic behavior of single atoms element 112 confirm a metallic character involved in their interaction with gold surface, similar to lighter homologues Zn, Cd, and Hg. The elemental volatility is much higher than that Group 12 periodic table, as empirically deduced from experimental results.
The synthesis of isotopes the element hassium was studied using reaction S34+U238→Hs272*. At a kinetic energy 163.0 MeV in center-of-mass system we observed one α-decay chain starting at isotope Hs267. cross section 1.8−1.5+4.2 pb. 152.0 decay new Hs268 observed. It decays with half-life 0.38−0.17+1.8 s by 9479±16 keV α-particle emission. Spontaneous fission daughter nucleus Sg264 confirmed. measured 0.54−0.45+1.3 In-beam measurements fission-fragment mass distributions were performed to...
An approach to sequence-dependent retention time prediction of peptides based on the concept liquid chromatography at critical conditions (LCCC) is presented. Within LCCC applied biopolymers (BioLCCC), specific corresponds a particular sequence. In combination with mass spectrometry, this provides an efficient tool solve problems wherein protein sequencing essential. work, we present theoretical background BioLCCC and demonstrate experimentally its feasibility for LC peptides. model three...
Previously unknown isotopes 30Ar and 29Cl have been identified by measurement of the trajectories their in-flight decay products 28S+p+p 28S+p, respectively. The analysis angular correlations fragments provided information on energies structure parent states. ground states were found at 2.25+0.15−0.10 1.8±0.1 MeV above two- one-proton thresholds, lowest in point to a violation isobaric symmetry these unbound nuclei. two-proton has transition region between simultaneous sequential proton...
The 0+ ground state of the 10He nucleus produced in 3H(8He,p)10He reaction was found at about $2.1\pm0.2$ MeV (\Gamma ~ 2 MeV) above three-body 8He+n+n breakup threshold. Angular correlations observed for decay products show prominent interference patterns allowing to draw conclusions structure low-energy excited states. We interpret as a coherent superposition broad 1- having maximum energy 4-6 and 2+ 6 MeV, setting both on top "tail". This anomalous level ordering indicates that breakdown...
The spectrum of $^{9}\mathrm{He}$ was studied by means the $^{2}\mathrm{H}$($^{8}\mathrm{He}$,$p$)$^{9}\mathrm{He}$ reaction at a laboratory energy 25 MeV/nucleon and small center-of-mass angles. Energy angular correlations were obtained for decay products complete kinematical reconstruction. lowest resonant state is found 2.0 \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{} 0.2 MeV with width $~2$ identified as $1/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. observed correlation pattern uniquely explained interference...
The deformed doubly magic nucleus Hs270 has so far only been observed as the four-neutron (4n) evaporation residue of reaction Mg26+Cm248, where a maximum cross section 3 pb was measured. Theoretical studies on formation in 4n channel fusion reactions with different entrance asymmetry framework two-parameter Smoluchowski equation predict that Ca48+Ra226 and S36+U238 result higher sections due to lower Q values, contrast simple arguments based asymmetry, which opposite trends. Calculations...
LC combined with MS/MS analysis of complex mixtures protein digests is a reliable and sensitive method for characterization phosphorylation. Peptide retention times (RTs) measured during an LC-MS/MS run depend on both the peptide sequence location modified amino acids. These RTs can be predicted using biomacromolecules at critical conditions model (BioLCCC). Comparing observed to those obtained from BioLCCC provide additional validation MS/MS-based identifications reduce false discovery rate...
The β decay of 31Ar, produced by fragmentation an 36Ar beam at 880 MeV/nucleon, was investigated. Identified ions 31Ar were stopped in a gaseous time projection chamber with optical readout allowing us to record events emission protons. In addition β-delayed one and two protons we clearly observed the three-proton branch. branching ratio for this channel is found be 0.07±0.02%.Received 21 May 2015DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.91.064309©2015 American Physical Society
