The genetic structures surrounding the plasmid-carried blaOXA-23 oxacillinase gene, encoding resistance to carbapenems, were studied in Acinetobacter baumannii. ISAba1 and novel element ISAba4 detected upstream of providing promoter sequences for its expression. These insertion elements likely involved transposition processes at origin acquisition this beta-lactamase gene.
To compare the genetic environments of ampC genes in different Acinetobacter baumannii isolates showing levels beta-lactam resistance. The patterns resistance and beta-lactamase production were investigated for 42 A. clinical strains. The MICs various beta-lactams determined presence or absence class C cephalosporinase inhibitor, cloxacillin (500 mg/L). gene its 5' adjacent sequence analysed by PCR DNA sequencing. An RT-PCR method was developed to evaluate transcript levels.Strains fell into...
Propionibacterium acnes is an important cause of orthopedic-implant-associated infections, for which the optimal treatment has not yet been determined. We investigated activity rifampin, alone and in combination, against planktonic biofilm P. vitro a foreign-body infection model. The MIC minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) were 0.007 4 μg/ml 1 daptomycin, 8 vancomycin, 2 levofloxacin, 0.03 16 penicillin G, 0.125 512 clindamycin, 0.25 32 ceftriaxone. eradication (MBEC) was rifampin; G;...
Bacteremia, or bloodstream infection (BSI), is a leading cause of death among patients with certain types cancer. A previous study reported that intestinal domination, defined as occupation at least 30 % the microbiota by single bacterial taxon, associated BSI in undergoing allo-HSCT. However, impact microbiome before treatment initiation on risk subsequent remains unclear. Our objective was to characterize fecal collected identify microbes predict BSI. We sampled 28 non-Hodgkin lymphoma...
ABSTRACT There is no standard method for the diagnosis of prosthetic joint infection (PJI). The contribution 16S rRNA gene PCR sequencing on a routine basis remains to be defined. We performed prospective multicenter study assess contributions assays in PJI diagnosis. Over 2-year period, all patients suspected have PJIs and few uninfected undergoing primary arthroplasty (control group) were included. Five perioperative samples per patient collected culture one histological examination. Three...
ABSTRACT Increasing antimicrobial resistance reduces treatment options for implant-associated infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). We evaluated the activity of fosfomycin alone and in combination with vancomycin, daptomycin, rifampin, tigecycline against MRSA (ATCC 43300) a foreign-body (implantable cage) infection model. The MICs individual agents were as follows: fosfomycin, 1 μg/ml; 0.125 0.04 tigecycline, μg/ml. Microcalorimetry showed synergistic...
Limited antimicrobial agents are available for the treatment of implant-associated infections caused by fluoroquinolone-resistant Gram-negative bacilli. We compared activities fosfomycin, tigecycline, colistin, and gentamicin (alone in combination) against a CTX-M15-producing strain Escherichia coli (Bj HDE-1) vitro foreign-body infection model. The MIC minimal bactericidal concentration logarithmic phase (MBC(log)) stationary (MBC(stat)) were 0.12, 8 μg/ml 0.25, 32, 32 0.5, 2 2, 8, 16...
Propionibacterium acnes, a major member of normal skin microbiota, is subdivided into 6 phylotypes: IA1, IA2, IB, IC, II and III. This study investigated P. acnes subgroups on the face back in patients with severe acne healthy controls. In 71.4% acne, phylotypes were identical back, whereas this was case only 45.5% The group carried IA1 (39.1%) (43.4%), high predominance (84.4%), especially (95.6%). addition, single-locus sequence typing (SLST) method revealed A1 to be predominant type...
ABSTRACT Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter spp. represent major threats have few approved therapeutic options. Non-fermenting Gram-negative isolates were collected from hospitalized inpatients 49 sites in 6 European countries between 01 January 2020 31 December underwent susceptibility testing against cefiderocol β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations. Meropenem-resistant (MIC >8 mg/L), cefiderocol-susceptible analyzed by PCR, cefiderocol-resistant...
ABSTRACT Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales represent a major health threat and have few approved therapeutic options. isolates were collected from hospitalized inpatients 49 sites in six European countries (1 January–31 December 2020) underwent susceptibility testing to cefiderocol β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations. Meropenem-resistant (MIC >8 mg/L) cefiderocol-susceptible analyzed by PCR, cefiderocol-resistant whole-genome sequencing, identify resistance mechanisms....
Although numerous perioperative samples and culture media are required to diagnose prosthetic joint infection (PJI), their exact number types have not yet been definitely determined with a high level of proof. We conducted prospective multicenter study determine the minimal for accurate diagnosis PJI. Over 2-year period, consecutive patients clinical signs suggesting PJI were included, five per patient. The bacteriological criteria assessed using random selection two, three, or four compared...
Acne has long been understood as a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicle, where Cutibacterium acnes (subdivided into six main phylotypes) is crucial factor. In parallel, loss microbial diversity among skin commensal communities recently shown often accompanied by disorders. This study investigated association C. phylotype and impact on Innate Immune System (IIS) activation. The IIS response after incubation with phylotypes IA1, II or III individually...
Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is an anaerobic, Gram-positive bacteria encountered in inflammatory acne lesions, particularly the pilosebaceous follicle. P. triggers a strong immune response involving keratinocytes, sebocytes and monocytes, target cells during development. Lipoteicoic acid peptidoglycan induce reaction, but no surface protein interacting with Toll-like receptors has been identified. proteins have extracted by lithium stripping shown to CXCL8 production...
