BACKGROUND. Understanding outcomes and immunologic characteristics of cellular therapy recipients with SARS-CoV-2 is critical to performing these potentially life-saving therapies in the COVID-19 era. In this study allogeneic (Allo) autologous (Auto) hematopoietic cell transplant CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR T) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, we aimed identify clinical variables associated severity assess lymphocyte populations.

Background Plasma constituents have been implicated in some types of platelet ( PLT ) transfusion reactions. Leukoreduced apheresis s stored I nter S ol 65% less plasma than 100% PP ). This study compared reaction rates PLTs (PLT additive solution [PAS] C) versus . Study Design and Methods The design was an open‐label, nonrandomized retrospective review. Statistical methods were applied to substantiate noninferiority superiority PAS C terms rates. Adverse reactions AR categorized using the B...

BACKGROUND Adoptive immunotherapy using engineered lymphocytes has shown promising results in treating cancers even patients who have failed other treatments. As the first essential step, number of peripheral mononuclear cell (MNC) collection procedures is rapidly increasing. In this retrospective study, we reviewed to determine factors that affect MNC collection. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS We 184 collections were performed on 169 adult allogenic donors and with acute lymphoid leukemia,...

ABSTRACT We report the results of 3M rapid detection respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) assay. This study includes pediatric patient from nasopharyngeal swabs submitted October to December 2009. There was a sensitivity 74% and specificity approaching 100% compared PCR-based xTAG viral panel.

Abstract Background Lumbar puncture (LP) is a frequently performed diagnostic and therapeutic procedure in oncology patients. Transfusing to minimum preprocedural platelet threshold of 50 × 10 9 /L widely upheld without good quality evidence. The objective was compare the outcomes LPs with platelets above below this threshold. An increased risk adverse events patients lower counts not expected. As corollary, transfusion reaction rates incurred by transfusing recommended are also reported....

BACKGROUND New alloantibody formation is unpredictable in patients who have been previously alloimmunized. Pretransfusion testing designed to detect these antibodies while antibody identification (ABI) techniques are identify the specificity of antibody. intervals prescribed by regulatory and accrediting agencies, for ABI alloimmunized not. Our institution evaluated safety increasing interval from every 72 hours 14 days. The current 72‐hour was chosen at our align with AABB Standard...

Abstract Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare paraneoplastic syndrome occasionally associated with thymomas. Here, we report on the first ever use of bovine hemoglobin‐based oxygen carrier, HBOC‐201 (HbO2 Therapeutics LLC; Hemopure ® , Waltham, MA) for supportive management pure in Jehovah Witness patient.

BACKGROUND Jehovah's Witnesses pose a clinical challenge in the setting of critical anemia. Most do not accept transfusions, but some hemoglobin‐based oxygen carriers on compassionate‐use basis. PEGylated carboxyhemoglobin bovine (PCHB) is an acellular dual‐action carbon monoxide (CO)‐releasing and transfer agent currently being investigated Phase II trials. BACKGROUND Patients with congenital haptoglobin deficiency can develop anti‐haptoglobin antibodies after exposure to blood products, and they suffer from life‐threatening anaphylactic transfusion reactions. Here, we present a case of 57‐year‐old Chinese male myelodysplastic syndrome who manifested an reaction during the platelets. The only abnormality detected his laboratory workup was undetectable level in absence evidence hemolysis. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS Surface plasmon resonance (SPR)...
