The management of acute ischemic stroke is changing. Over the period 2010-2050, number incident strokes expected to be more than double. Rapid access mechanical thrombectomy for patients with large vessel occlusion critically associated their functional outcome. Moreover, first pass effect had a better clinical outcome, lower mortality, and fewer procedural adverse events. We discuss some advances in regarding organization, diagnosis treatment.
Abstract Background Shunt-dependent hydrocephalus significantly complicates subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and reliable prognosis methods have been sought in recent years to reduce morbidity costs associated with delayed treatment or neglected onset. Machine learning (ML) defines modern data analysis techniques allowing accurate subject-based risk stratifications. We aimed at developing testing different ML models predict shunt-dependent after aneurysmal SAH. Methods consulted electronic...
Background Fetal posterior cerebral artery (FPCA) occlusion is a rare but potentially disabling cause of stroke. While endovascular treatment established for acute large vessel stroke, FPCA occlusions were excluded from ischemic stroke trials. We aim to report the feasibility, safety, and outcome mechanical thrombectomy in occlusions. Methods performed multicenter retrospective review consecutive patients who underwent occlusion. Primary was defined as an that identified on pre‐procedure...
Abstract BACKGROUND Y-stenting is an effective but challenging approach for wide-neck aneurysms. PulseRider (PR) (Pulsar/Cerenovus) a new device designed to provide scaffolding during coiling has never been compared with other techniques. OBJECTIVE To compare the immediate and 6-mo results of vs PR assisted coiling. METHODS A total 105 consecutive patients were retrospectively divided into 2 groups (73 32 PR). All underwent angiographic follow-up. We evaluated if some anatomical features...
PARK8 is the most common known mendelian form of Parkinson's Disease (PD). It due to mutations in leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) gene and G2019S considered frequent mutation Caucasian population, particular Southern Europe Mediterranean countries. We assessed frequency R1441C/H/G 513 (311 M 202 F) unrelated PD patients from Campania, Italy.Three hundreds thirty-six presented a sporadic disease, 177 had familial history or tremor. Three eighty cases originated province Naples. We...
This multicenter study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device for treating unruptured wide-neck intracranial bifurcation aneurysms (WIBAs) with short-, mid-, long-term follow-ups (FUPs).Consecutive patients WIBAs treated WEB between December 2014 January 2018 were included. Patient, aneurysm, characteristics collected analyzed retrospectively. Morbidity mortality rates determined by collecting intraprocedural, periprocedural, delayed complications. Aneurysm...
Atherosclerotic stenosis of the internal carotid artery is a rare cause pulsatile tinnitus. Stenosis responsible for tinnitus usually located in petrous segment vessel or, even more uncommonly, extracranial segment. However, to best our knowledge, intradural supraclinoid had never been reported as source We describe case man with history previous ischaemic stroke and invalidating tinnitus, caused by high grade, diaphragm-like shaped, artery. The was treated angioplasty stenting low-profile...
Introduction : Fetal posterior cerebral artery (FPCA) occlusion is a rare but potentially disabling cause of stroke. While endovascular treatment established for acute large vessel (LVO) stroke, FPCA occlusions were excluded from ischemic stroke trials. We aim to report the feasibility, safety and outcome mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in occlusions. Methods performed multi‐center retrospective review consecutive patients who underwent MT occlusion. Primary was defined as an that identified on...
We present the technical aspects of embolization for two unruptured medium-sized aneurysms anterior cerebral artery treated with balloon-remodeling technique and loose coiling sac final deployment a 0. 017-compatible flow diverter. Both procedures were performed dual antiplatelet therapy premedication under general anesthesia. The anatomy was similar wide neck presence collateral branching off it, which required additional use compliant balloon in order to retain patency avoid coil...
