Ferns are the closest sister group to all seed plants, yet little is known about their genomes other than that they generally colossal. Here, we report on of Azolla filiculoides and Salvinia cucullata (Salviniales) present evidence for episodic whole-genome duplication in ferns-one at base 'core leptosporangiates' one specific Azolla. One fern-specific gene identified, recently shown confer high insect resistance, seems have been derived from bacteria through horizontal transfer. coexists a...
The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors to treat urothelial carcinoma (UC) is increasing rapidly without clear guidance for validated risk stratification. This multicenter retrospective study collected clinicopathological information on 463 patients, and 11 predefined variables were analyzed develop a multivariate model predicting overall survival (OS). was using an independent dataset 292 patients. Patient characteristics outcomes well balanced between the discovery validation cohorts,...
Sunitinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor and used as the first-line treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Nevertheless, inter-individual variability of drug’s toxicity was often observed among patients who received sunitinib treatment. This study to investigate association functional germline variant on ABCG2 that affects pharmacokinetics with sunitinib-induced RCC in Japanese population. A total 219 were recruited this pharmacogenetic study. 421C>A (Q141K) genotyped by using...
Cell division associated 1 ( CDCA 1) was screened as an oncogene that is overexpressed on several cancers, including prostate cancer. A highly immunogenic HLA ‐A*2402‐restricted epitope peptide corresponding to part of the protein also identified. phase I clinical trial conducted for patients with castration resistant cancer CRPC ) using a vaccination. Twelve having ‐A*2402 after failure docetaxel chemotherapy were enrolled. They received subcutaneous administration emulsion Montanide ISA 51...
To assess the impact of histological variants on survival and response to treatment with pembrolizumab in patients chemo-resistant urothelial carcinoma (UC).The medical records 755 advanced UC who received were reviewed retrospectively. Patients classified into pure (PUC) each variant. Best overall (BOR) (OS) compared between groups using a propensity score matching (PSM).Overall, 147 (19.5%) harboured any variant (VUC). After PSM, there no significant differences objective rate (ORR, 24.5%...
Here, we report a case of 68-year-old woman with cT4N0M1 (liver invasion and multiple lung metastases) metastatic renal cell carcinoma. We could carry out less invasive nephrectomy partial hepatectomy because nivolumab administration as second-line therapy reduced the primary tumor remarkably. To best our knowledge, this is first use before carrying surgery, histological findings showed pathological complete response.
Objectives Nocturnal polyuria (NP) is one of the causes nocturia that impairs quality life. It necessary to consider NP latent when initial treatment for unsatisfactory. Therefore, it important establish a based on pathophysiology. We have previously reported relationship between and fluctuation in blood pressure. The present study aimed investigate association 24‐h pressure fluctuations multicenter prospective study. Methods This included male patients with lower urinary tract symptoms....
Abstract The prognosis for patients who achieve a pathologic complete response in bladder cancer is excellent, but the association between their and tumor microenvironment unclear. We investigated immune of those with pathological after platinum-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy cT2-4aN0M0 using multiplex fluorescence immunohistochemistry. Our retrospective study included 12 underwent radical cystectomy following muscle-invasive cancer. assessed density several cell types pretreatment...
We investigated that preoperative membranous urethral length (MUL) would be associated with the recovery of urinary continence after robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). studied 204 patients who underwent RALP between May 2013 and March 2016. All pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) preoperatively to measure MUL. Urinary was defined as use one pad or less (safety pad). The were divided into two groups: group, those achieved at 3, 6, 12 months RALP, incontinence did not....
Background: MicroRNAs (miRNA) are frequently dysregulated in clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC). Objective: This study aimed to elucidate the role of miRNA expression patterns carcinogenesis and identify specific miRNAs that exhibit closely associated with patient outcomes. Methods: We examined selected miRNAs, including miRNA-155-5p, miRNA-122-5p, miRNA-21-5p, miRNA-185-5p, miRNA-106a-5p, miRNA-106b-3p, miRNA-34b-3p, miRNA-210-3p, miRNA-141-3p, miRNA-200c-3p, miRNA-135a-5p, miRNA-30a-5p,...
This study aimed to identify novel prognostic biomarker for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients treated with anti-PD-1 therapy, using quantitative multi-immunofluorescence (IF) analysis of tumor immunity. Twenty-five consecutive who had metastatic or unresectable RCC therapy were studied. The divided into a responder group (n = 12) and non-responder 13). Quantitative multi-IF staining was performed on biopsy surgical kidney samples panel antibodies. Sections scanned Mantra...
Abstract Biomarkers that could detect the postoperative recurrence of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) have not been established. In this prospective study, we aim to evaluate utility individualized circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) monitoring using digital PCR (dPCR) as a biomarker for UTUC in perioperative period. Twenty‐three patients who underwent radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) were included. each patient, whole exome sequencing by next‐generation and TERT promoter carried out....
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine and carboplatin (GC) for invasive bladder cancer increases the chance of a radical response subset patients, while other patients suffer from severe adverse drug reactions without any benefit. To establish method predicting to GC, expression profiles biopsy samples 37 advanced cancers were analyzed using microarray consisting 38,500 genes or ESTs. Upon analysis 9 'responder' 'non-responder' tumors, 12 'predictive' found be significantly...
Through genome-wide expression profile analysis, hypoxia-inducible protein 2 (HIG2) has previously been identified as an oncoprotein involved in development/progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We subsequently a highly immunogenic HLA-A*0201/0206-restricted epitope peptide (HIG2-9-4) corresponding to part HIG2 and applied it therapeutic vaccine. conducted phase I clinical trial using the HIG2-9-4 for patients with advanced RCC. Nine having HLA-A*0201 or HLA-A*0206 metastatic...
Abstract: We report a case of primary low‐grade lymphoma mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) arising from the kidney in 30‐year‐old man with an abdominal mass right flank detected by ultrasonography. Radical nephrectomy was performed under preliminary diagnosis renal cell carcinoma. The final histological MALT‐type lymphoma. To best our knowledge, only five reports have been published literature so far. All cases were surgically treated and one went on to chemotherapy postoperatively.
ObjectiveAlthough cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by cystectomy was demonstrated to improve the survival among patients with locally advanced bladder cancer, its severe adverse events, including nephrotoxicity, are critical issues. We investigated safety and activity of carboplatin, a mild nephrotoxic agent, combined gemcitabine as compared methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin cisplatin for cancer.
Key Clinical Message This is the first case report in which computed tomography (CT) images of a patient with emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) capture time course emphysema from onset to resolution through conservative treatment. To re‐evaluate EPN, including refractory urinary tract infections, CT scans after 72 h might be helpful.
