Abstract The history of the development potentiometric sensors over past century demonstrates progress in constructing single, discrete (i.e., separate, to distinguish from sensor arrays) ion sensors, which have been made as selective possible. Only a few types reveal high selectivity. However, easy measurement procedure, with low cost and availability, give rise search for new ways their successful application. present document describes concept application multisensor systems, viz., arrays...

In this work we analyze the coupled piezoelectric and semiconductive behavior of vertically aligned ZnO nanowires under uniform compression. The screening effect on field caused by free carriers in compressed zinc oxide (NWs) has been computed means both analytical considerations finite element calculations. We predict that, for typical geometries donor concentrations, length NW does not significantly influence maximum output piezopotential because potential mainly drops across tip, so that...

The relationship between diseases and alterations of the airborne chemicals emitted from body has been found in many different pathologies particular for various forms cancer. Metabolism cancer cells is greatly altered during their lifetime; then, modification supposed to be large around tissues. Positive hints this direction were provided, as an example, on studying breath composition lung cancer-affected subjects. Besides conventional analytical approaches, recent years sensor arrays also...

The equilibrium piezoelectric potential distribution in a deformed ZnO semiconductive nanowire has been systematically investigated order to reveal its dependence on the donor concentration, applied force, and geometric parameters. In particular, concentration markedly affects magnitude of electric potential. At N D>1018 cm−3, piezopotential is almost entirely screened. Among other parameters, variation length does not significantly affect distribution.

A hydrogen sensitive detection technique utilizing a surface acoustic wave (SAW) delay line coated with palladium thin film is presented. The hydrogen-palladium interaction produces change in the velocity of SAW propagating on substrate, which detected as phase shift at output line. Presently, concentrations small 50 ppm flowing H2+N2 mixture have been detected.
