There are limited data on the impact of bariatric surgery microvascular complications type 2 diabetes (T2D), particularly diabetic neuropathy. We assessed (especially neuropathy) in obese patients with T2D before and 12 months after surgery. This was a prospective observational cohort study. Measurements neuropathy symptom profile (NSP), disability score (NDS), vibration (VPT), cold (CPT) warm (WPT) perception thresholds, nerve conduction studies (NCS) corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) to...

Hypercholesterolaemia is amongst the most common conditions encountered in medical profession. It remains one of key modifiable cardiovascular risk factors and there have been recent advances stratification methods treatment options available. In this review, we provide a background into hypercholesterolaemia for non-specialists consider merits different assessment tools available. We also detailed considerations as to: i) when to start treatment, ii) what targets aim iii) role low density...

Obesity is a major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Bariatric surgery considered to be the most effective treatment option weight reduction in obese patients with and without type 2 diabetes (T2DM).To evaluate changes lipoproteins, insulin resistance, mediators of systemic vascular inflammation, endothelial dysfunction following Roux-en-Y bariatric diabetes.Lipoproteins, were measured 37 (n = 17) 20) T2DM, before 6 12 months after surgery. Two way between subject ANOVA was...

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the most prevalent mental health globally. However, association between symptom trajectories in early period and subsequent outcomes remains not fully elucidated. This study aimed to delineate during initial phase of treatment, identify baseline characteristics associated with these trajectories, explore quality life suicidal ideation. Participants were from Depression Cohort China. The diagnosis MDD was assessed using Mini-International Neuropsychiatric...

Serum paraoxonase (PON1) is an enzyme associated with HDL, and its ability to protect LDL from oxidation one mechanism by which HDL protects against atherosclerosis. Low concentrations of PON1 are found in patients type 2 diabetes or coronary heart disease. activity may also be important avoidance organophosphate toxicity industry. The generally accepted method for determining requires use a recording spectrophotometer not suited large numbers samples; addition, automation presents particular...

The Gate-Induce-Drain-Leakage (GIDL)-assisted body biasing for erase, which is a technique essential to enabling 3DNAND Flash CMOS Under Array architectures, has been extensively studied and successfully optimized achieve high-performance, reliable erase operation. This paper reviews the main features of GIDL-assisted GIDL optimization methods ensuring best effectiveness variability control. Finally, excellent reliability selector gate devices over Program/Erase cycles demonstrated, proving...

Purpose: Obesity is associated with peripheral neuropathy, which bariatric surgery may ameliorate. The aim of this study was to assess whether corneal confocal microscopy can show a change in nerve morphology and keratocyte density subjects severe obesity after surgery. Methods: Twenty obese patients diabetes (n = 13) without 7) underwent assessment hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), lipids, IL-6, highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), before 12 months Corneal fiber (CNFD), branch (CNBD), length...

Emerging evidence suggests an association between impaired high-density lipoprotein (HDL) functionality and cardiovascular disease (CVD). HDL is essential for reverse cholesterol transport (RCT) reduces inflammation oxidative stress principally via paraoxonase-1 (PON1). RCT depends on HDL's capacity to accept (cholesterol efflux [CEC]) active through ATP-binding cassette (ABC) A1, G1, scavenger receptor-B1 (SR-B1). We have studied the impact of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) in morbidly...

We present a new metal-insulator-metal (MIM)-based plasmonic Bragg reflector (PBR) design that solves the technical problems of conventional step profile MIM PBRs through use sawtooth profiles. Our numerical study revealed exhibit lower insertion loss, narrower bandgap, and reduced rippling in transmission spectrum when compared with PBRs. The defect mode PBR also exhibits higher transmission, linewidth, Q-factor.
