To identify genomic regions subject to positive selection that might contain genes involved in high-altitude adaptation (HAA), we performed a genome-wide scan by whole-genome sequencing of Tibetan highlanders and Han lowlanders. We revealed collection candidate located 30 loci under selection. Among them, MCUR1 at 6p23 was novel pronounced candidate. By single-cell RNA comprehensive functional studies, demonstrated depletion leads impairment erythropoiesis hypoxia normoxia. Mechanistically,...

Abstract The sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP) encoded by SLC10A1 was recently demonstrated to be a functional receptor for hepatitis B virus (HBV). role of polymorphisms, particularly the Ser267Phe variant (rs2296651) in exon 4, has been frequently investigated regard risk persistent HBV infection. However, these investigations have generated conflicting results. To examine whether common genetic variation at locus is associated with infection, haplotype-tagging and...

A family of enantiopure β‐aminoalcohols based on aziridine backbones were synthesized, and examined as chiral ligands for the copper(II)‐catalyzed asymmetric Henry reaction aromatic aldehydes with nitromethane, giving β‐nitroalcohols in excellent yields (up to 93%) moderate good enantioselectivities 82%). Moreover, possible transition states are proposed. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Spinal cord ischemic-reperfusion injury (SCIRI) could occurs during surgical procedures without detection, presenting a complex course and an unfavorable prognosis. This may lead to postoperative sensory or motor dysfunction in areas innervated by the spinal cord, some cases, permanent paralysis. Timely detection of SCIRI immediate waring can help surgeons implement remedial intervention prevent irreversible injury. Therefore, it is crucial develop precise effective method for early SCIRI....

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer and second cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. As immune response failure main factor in occurrence poor prognosis HCC, our study aimed to develop an immune-associated molecular predictor (IMOPP) HCC. To that end, we discovered a 4-gene gene signature: C–C motif chemokine ligand 14 (CCL14), kallikrein B1 (KLKB1), vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor 1 (VIPR1), cluster differentiation 4 (CD4). When tested on three cohorts...
