Hybrid rice is the dominant form of planted in China, and its use has extended worldwide since 1970s. It offers great yield advantages contributed greatly to world's food security. However, molecular mechanisms underlying heterosis have remained a mystery. In this study we integrated genetics omics analyses determine candidate genes for model two-line hybrid system, Liang-you-pei 9 (LYP9) parents. Phenomics revealed that better parent (BPH) not ascribed BPH all components but specific...

Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for human health, and dietary Se intake effective supplement. Rich in nutrients functional components with potential enrichment, Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn.) a Se-biofortified cereal. To determine the optimal treatment concentration fully understand its effects on buckwheat, sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) different concentrations was sprayed onto leaves of at initial flowering stage. Agronomic yield-related traits enrichment were...

Dof (DNA binding with one finger) proteins, a class of plant-specific transcription factors which contain conserved C2-C2-type zinc finger domain, are involved in many fundamental processes. In the Arabidopsis photoperiod response pathway, CDF (CYCLING DOF FACTOR) proteins have primary role as acting via transcriptional repression direct FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) activator CONSTANS (CO). Our previous study indicated that homologs, OsDOf12, was photoperiodic flowering. However, functional...

Chromosome evolution is an important driver of speciation and species evolution. Previous studies have detected chromosome rearrangement events among different Carnivora using painting strategies. However, few these focused on at a nucleotide resolution due to the limited availability chromosome-level genomes. Although de novo genome assembly giant panda available, current short read-based assemblies are moderately sized scaffolds, making study difficult. Here, we present draft with total...

Stem lodging can limit the grain yield of Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum), and creates difficulties in harvesting. A 2-year study was conducted to relationships between stem characteristics resistance buckwheat. Six cultivars with three types (short-stemmed XQ1 CQ1; mid-length stemmed YQ1 QK3; tall-stemmed DAB DN1) were used. The differed significantly among types. Mid-length stems had thickest wall, greatest numbers large small vascular bundles, lowest diameter/stem wall thickness...

Buckwheat is a famous edible and medicinal coarse cereal which contain abundant of bioactive flavonoids, such as rutin. In this study, the composition diversity endophytic fungi in eight different buckwheat seeds were analyzed by high-throughput sequencing ITS rDNA. Results showed that, fungal sequences reads allocated to 272 OTUs, them, 49 OTUs shared seeds. These could be classified into 6 phyla, 19 classes, 41 orders, 79 families, 119 genera, 191 species. At genus level, Alternaria sp....

The identification of a new circovirus (Porcine Circovirus 3, PCV3) has raised concern because its impact on swine health is not fully known. In Fujian Province in eastern China, even circulating status and genetic characteristics are unclear. Here, we tested 127 tissue samples from that presented respiratory symptoms. All the PCV3 positive were negative for many other pathogens involved diseases like PCV2, PRRSV, CSFV, suggesting potentially pathogenic. From phylogenetic analysis, strains...

Tartary buckwheat is highly attractive for the richness of nutrients and quality, yet post-embryonic seed abortion greatly halts yield. Seed development crucial determining grain yield, whereas molecular basis regulatory network filling not well understood at present. Here, we assessed transcriptional dynamics stage seeds three developmental stages by RNA sequencing. Among 4249 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), related to were identified. Specifically, 88 phytohormone biosynthesis...
