Integration of technological solutions aims to improve accuracy, precision and repeatability in farming operations, biosensor devices are increasingly used for understanding basic biology during livestock production. The aim this study was design validate a miniaturized tri-axial accelerometer non-invasive monitoring farmed fish with re-programmable schedule protocols. The device attached the operculum gilthead sea bream European bass juveniles their physical activity by measurements movement...
For the planned luminosity upgrade of CERN LHC to sLHC new radiation hard technologies for tracking detectors are investigated. Corresponding increase, dose will be approximately a factor ten higher than currently installed in experiments. One option tolerant 3D silicon with columnar electrodes penetrating into bulk. This article reports results beam test measurements performed 3D-DDTC (Double-Sided, Double Type Column) strip detectors, where columns do not pass through detector completely....
Proton irradiation results are shown here for three different SiGe:C HBT technologies from IHP Microelectronics. High damages observed although the transistors remain usable their application on Super-LHC. Considerations ionization and displacement effects additivity also presented in order to validate parameterized experiments. This study shows a reasonable agreement between proton irradiations previous gamma neutron irradiations.
We present a novel neutron detector based on an ultra-thin 3D silicon sensor with sensitive volume only 10 μm thick. This active allows high gamma-ray rejection, key requirement in order to discriminate the signal coming from neutrons mixed neutron-gamma ray environment. The device upper-side is covered boron-based compound that detects by means of 10B(n,α)7Li nuclear reaction.
Optical links are used for the readout of 4088 silicon microstrip modules that make up SemiConductor Tracker ATLAS experiment at CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The optical link requirements reviewed, with particular emphasis on very demanding environment LHC. on-detector components have to operate in high radiation levels 10 years, no maintenance, and there strict power consumption, material space. A novel concept packaging optoelectronics has been developed meet these requirements....
The accurate detection and dosimetry of neutrons in mixed pulsed radiation fields is a demanding instrumental issue with great interest both for the industrial medical communities. In recent studies neutron contamination around linacs, there growing concern about secondary cancer risk radiotherapy patients undergoing treatment photon modalities at energies greater than 6 MV. this work we present promising alternative to standard detectors an active method measure linac using novel ultra-thin...
The biosensor technology has the potential to revolutionize aquaculture industry, but selection of tagging method, operational mode (stand-alone vs. wireless systems) and telemetry ultimately depends on life species, stage research question. In particular, AEFishBIT is a small stand-alone device composed tri-axial accelerometer, microprocessor, battery RFID tag that was designed be externally attached operculum. This unique location serves provide simultaneous measurements activity patterns...
A new ldquodouble sidedrdquo 3-D solid-state detector structure, intended to simplify the fabrication process, is proposed. In this electrode columns of different doping types are etched from opposite sides substrate, with neither set passing through full substrate thickness. The finite-element simulation package ISE-TCAD used determine performance structure. double-sided shows similar electrostatic behavior a standard detector, giving low depletion voltage and fast charge collection....
We used Geant4 and MCNPX codes to evaluate the detection efficiency of planar silicon detectors coupled different Boron-based converters with varied compositions thicknesses that detect thermal neutrons via 10B(n,α)7Li nuclear reaction. Few studies about neutron transport in have been reported so far it is becoming increasingly difficult ignore its discrepancies this energy range. In range, shows high giving a maximum 3.3% 10B case whereas obtained was 5%. Disagreements between both range...
This paper reports on the fabrication, simulation, and charge collection characteristics of a new generation cylindrical silicon microdosimeters fabricated SOI wafers. The devices consist an array p+ electrodes surrounded by trench n+ creating well defined, sensitive volumes. A first batch microsensors with 5.4 μm active thickness has been successfully fabricated. are fully functional good diode behavior depletion voltage only 3 V. Their have investigated using IBIC technique protons alpha...
