From the leaves of Crataegus davisii five flavonoids ( hyperoside, vitexin 2’’- rhamnoside, 4’-rhamnoside, rutin, quercetin ) together with chlorogenic acid and crataequinone B were isolated. The flavonoid content was determined according to DAB 10 found as 1.09 %. IC50 value 1.57 mg/ml at antioxidant activity determination DPPH method.
Crataegus (hawthorn) has long been used as a folk medicine all around the world. Most of studies with species focus on effects heart failure and cardiovascular disease. The pharmacological have attributed mainly to content flavonoids, procyanidin, aromatic acid cardiotonic amines. present study investigated blood pressure structure coronary arterial wall L-NAME-induced hypertensive rats given an aqueous leaf extract C. tanacetifolia (100 mg/kg), for 4 weeks via gavage. It was observed that...
Abstract As part of our continuing research on seaweeds, crude MeOH extracts two green, three brown and six red algae collected from Marmara, Black, Aegean Mediterranean Seas were screened. Four parasitic protozoa, i.e. Plasmodium falciparum , Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense T. cruzi Leishmania donovani the tubercle bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis used as test organisms for in vitro assays. The selective toxicity was also determined against mammalian L6 cells. All seaweed active ; Dasya...
Vascular dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular disease. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether chronic vivo treatment Crataegus microphylla ( CM ) extract rats induced with streptozotocin (STZ, intraperitoneal, 65 mg/kg) preserves function and evaluate reduction inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), proinflammatory cytokines, lipid peroxidation mediates its mechanisms action. Starting at 4 weeks diabetes, (100 was administrated for weeks. aortic...
Abstract Diterpenoid and norditerpenoid alkaloids were tested against Tribolium casteneum (Herbst.) in order to assess their repellent activity. Of 29 alkaloids, 21 compounds showed promising insect activity, while eight of them not found be active. The obtained from Delphinium, Consolida Aconitum species. highest activity was hetisine, a diterpene alkaloid (59.37%) the lowest another venulol (31.25%). Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
Abstract Artemisia abrotanum L. (Compositae) is widely used in European herbal medicine for treatment of various ailments including fever. Crude extracts this plant and some their constituents were tested antimalarial activity against Plasmodium falciparum vitro using the technique [ 3 H]hypoxanthine incorporation. Two pure compounds, isofraxidin a novel sesquiterpene, 1(S*)‐hydroxy‐α‐bisabololoxide A acetate found to be active (IC 50 values 7.95 5.09 m̈g/mL, respectively).
Genital herpes, usually caused by Herpes Simplex Virus type-2 (HSV-2), is the commonest sexually transmitted disease especially amongst rural women in Southern Africa including Zimbabwe. This predisposes them to HIV/AIDS infection, cancer and opportunistic infections (OIs). Current antiviral treatments are often cytotoxic and/or ineffective. motivates active research find alternative safer drugs or lead from traditional medicinal sources. Twenty six (26) methanol extracts commonly used...
The investigation of the lipophilic part Turkish Matricaria chamomilla var. recutita whose volatile oil does not contain chamazulene revealed presense β-farnesene, cis and trans en-in-dicycloether (I + II), (–)-α-bisabololoxide A (III), (–)-α-bisabolonoxide (IV), herniarin (V), umbelliferone (VI), stigmasterol stigmasterol-3-glucoside.
Abstract Crataegus microphylla C. Koch is one of the 17 species growing in Turkey [H.P.T. Ammon and R. Kaul (1994). Dtsch. Apoth. Ztg., 134, 2433, 2521, 2631.]. This report part a series on chemical investigations from Turkey. Nine flavonoids have been isolated leaves flowers Koch. The amounts plant were determined. Keywords: microphyllaFlavonoids Acknowledgement work was supported by Research Fund University Istanbul. Project Number 1291/050599.
In this study two different extraction techniques namely, conventional hydrodistillation (HD) and microsteam distillation-solid-phase microextraction (MSD-SPME), were used to analyze the volatile constituents from leaves galls of Salvia fruticosa Mill.by gas chromatography (GC-FID) coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS).The oxygenated monoterpenes (62.4-69.3%)were found be predominating compound group with 1,8-cineole camphor as main in all tested samples exception gall oil which sesquiterpenes...
Three new hetisane-type diterpenoid alkaloids, davisinol (6), 18-benzoyldavisinol (7), and Davisin (9) have been isolated from Delphinium davisii Munz. their structures established by detailed spectroscopic studies. Accurate 1H- 13C-NMR assignments made for kobusine (8), a related alkaloid, karakoline (5), norditerpenoid alkaloid. The known alkaloids 14-acetylperegrine (4), 6-deacetylperegrine (3), (5) the hetisine hetisinone were also isolated.
Abstract From the aerial parts of Aconitum cochleare Woroschin, two new norditerpenoid alkaloids named aconitilearine ( 1 ) and N ‐deethylmethyllycaconitine 2 were isolated along with eight known 3 – 10 . The structures for compounds established on basis H, 13 C, DEPT, homonuclear H‐COSY, NOESY, HSQC, HMBC NMR studies.
