Background: Regional information regarding the characteristics of patients with coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 is needed for a better understanding pandemic. Objective: The objective study to describe clinical features COVID-19 diagnosed in tertiary-care center Mexico City and assess differences according treatment setting (ambulatory vs. hospital) need intensive care (IC).Methods: We conducted prospective cohort, including consecutive
Antimicrobial resistance is a global threat to public health. Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT®) language model tool based on artificial intelligence. ChatGPT® could analyze data from antimicrobial susceptibility tests in real time, especially places where infectious diseases (ID) specialists are not available. We aimed evaluate the agreement between and ID regarding appropriate antibiotic prescription simulated cases. Using microbiological isolates recovered our center, we...
Abstract Background Women in Mexico are not considered a key population for acquiring HIV, consequently, neither the patients nor their physicians aware of this risk. This lack recognition may contribute to late diagnoses and unfavorable clinical outcomes. study aims determine frequency missed opportunities HIV diagnosis (MOHD) tertiary care center City. Methods A questionnaire newly enrolled healthcare was routinely applied since 2013 look MOHD, at Clinic MOHD defined as encounter which a)...
Abstract Background Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) or commonly known as hemophagocytic syndrome, is a rare and serious disease triggered by myriad of stimuli. HLH characterized an uncontrolled cytokine production, persistent lymphocyte macrophage activation which results in hemophagocytosis. Since people living with human immunodeficiency virus (PLHIV) have increased risk coinfections, gaining great relevance the clinical field it worsens patient's prognosis.Figure 1.Epstein-Barr...
People with HIV (PWH) are vulnerable to mental health and substance use disorders (MSDs), but the extent which these associated other non-communicable diseases in ageing PWH populations remains poorly documented. We assessed comorbidities symptoms of MSD among ≥40 years Sentinel Research Network (SRN) International epidemiology Database Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA). Baseline data collected between June 2020 September 2022, from 10 clinics Asia, Latin America Africa contributing SRN, were analysed....
Abstract Background The study of stool microbiota has taken great relevance in the last years, given its role maintenance intestinal metabolic, physiological, and immunological homeostasis, as well as, effect over HIV biomarkers levels such CD4/CD8 ratio, high sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP), related to poor outcomes (rapid progression AIDS). Several efforts have been made characterize gut microbiome. In infection, most studies report presence a dysbiotic pattern; however, few them...
Abstract Introduction Liver disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among persons living with HIV (PLHIV). While chronic viral hepatitis has been extensively studied in low‐ middle‐income countries (LMICs), there limited information about the burden metabolic disorders on liver PLHIV. Methods We conducted cross‐sectional analysis baseline data collected between October 2020 July 2022 from IeDEA‐Sentinel Research Network, prospective cohort enrolling PLHIV ≥40 years...
Abstract Many studies are currently evaluating the potential role of thrombolytic therapy in patients with ischemic syndromes who have undergone previous coronary artery bypass grafting. Limited experience has been published regarding use local urokinase and streptokinase infusions systemic recombinant tissue‐type plasminogen activator as agents surgery. To date, however, there no (rt‐PA) either systemically or locally post‐bypass patient where angiographic demonstration aortocoronary...
Plasmablastic lymphoma is an aggressive variant of large B-cells in which the infection by Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Epstein-Barr herpesvirus are involved. This recently denominated neoplasia has a special tropism through oral cavity. However, its presence been reported digestive tract, abdominal cavity retroperitoneum. We describe two infected patient cases with rectal presentation PL HIV service Hospital Civil de Guadalajara.
We describe two cases of possible healthcare-associated mucormycosis in liver transplant recipients. Mucorales may be acquired from environmental sources such as contaminated medical equipment, grafts or procedure related. Gastrointestinal is the second most common presentation infections. The high mortality rate due to low suspicion, insensitive diagnostic tests and rapid angioinvasion. Early antifungal treatment surgical debridement are imperative improve survival.
Suicide Risk (SR) and the COVID-19 pandemic affected People with HIV (PWH) disproportionately in comparison general population, but little information on SR during after lockdown Latino PWH has been described, therefore, this study aimed to describe attended clinic before (2018–2019), (2020), (2021–2022) lockdown, trend of SR, factors associated. Three standardized questions from "Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale" (C-SSRS) were routinely applied as screening for suicide risk all...
Objective: The aim of this study was to understand the relationship between cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and liver steatosis fibrosis among people with HIV (PLWH) at least 40 years age on antiretroviral therapy (ART) in low middle-income countries (LMIC). Design: We used cross-sectional behavioral clinical data collected during enrollment visits 2020–2022 for Sentinel Research Network International epidemiology Databases Evaluate AIDS (SRN IeDEA). Methods: Ten-year CVD calculated using...
Due to the increased effectiveness of and access antiretroviral therapy (ART), people with HIV (PWH) are living longer. As a result, population older PWH has increased. Mental substance use disorders (MSDs) common frequently co-occurring among associated poor care outcomes. Research into prevalence co-occurrence MSDs ageing remains limited, particularly in low- middle-income countries (LMICs).
Background Diabetes affects 4.5% of people living with HIV in Mexico. This study aims to describe the diabetes cascade care (DMC) a tertiary center Mexico City.

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is a hypersensitivity rash, fever multiorgan dysfunction potentially lethal in up to 10% of cases. It often affects liver function, but it can also affect kidney, lungs, heart. Severe gastrointestinal involvement rare. We present case 31-year-old hispanic woman pseudomembranous colitis associated lamotrigine-induced DRESS syndrome. To the best our knowledge, this fourth reported severe tract first report setting
