We report an epidemic of parvovirus B19 infections in Denmark during the first quarter 2024, with a peak incidence 3.5 times higher than most recent 2017. In total, 20.1% (130/648) laboratory-confirmed cases were pregnant. Severe adverse outcomes observed among 12.3% (16/130) pregnant people and included foetal anaemia, hydrops miscarriage. Parvovirus infection is not systematically monitored, but national laboratory-based surveillance system currently being established Denmark.

We report a record high pertussis epidemic in Denmark since August 2023. Highest incidence was adolescents, while peak infants lower vs previous epidemics 2019 and 2016. Among aged 0–2 months, over half (29/48) were hospitalised one infant died, underlining the disease severity youngest. To protect infants, vaccination pregnant women introduced January 2024 national programme. Improved surveillance is being implemented.

Since the end of November 2023, European Mortality Monitoring Network (EuroMOMO) has observed excess mortality in Europe. During weeks 48 2023–6 2024, preliminary results show a substantially increased rate 95.3 (95% CI: 91.7–98.9) all-cause deaths per 100,000 person-years for all ages. This is seen adults aged 45 years and older, coincides with widespread presence COVID-19, influenza respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) many countries during 2023/24 winter season.
