Abstract Male fertility is the ability of sperm to fertilize egg and sustain embryo development. Several factors determine fertilizing capacity mammalian sperm, including those intrinsic components seminal plasma. The present study analyzed fluid proteome Bos taurus potential associations between proteins scores. Mass spectrometry coupled with nano HPLC allowed identification 1,159 in dairy bull There were 50 29 more abundant high (HF) low (LF) bulls, respectively. Based on multivariate...

Gut microbiota profiles are closely related to cardiovascular diseases through mechanisms that include the reported deleterious effects of metabolites, such as trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), which have been studied diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Moderate red wine (RW) consumption is reportedly cardioprotective, possibly by affecting gut microbiota. To investigate RW on microbiota, plasma TMAO, metabolome in men with documented coronary artery disease (CAD) using a multiomics assessment...

This study reviews and updates information on cetacean strandings in the state of Ceará, Brazil (02°30′S 41°15′W– 04°30′S 36°45′W), comprising 573 km coastline. In years 1992–2005, there were 252 stranding events, representing 19 species: three species Balaenopteridae, Physeteridae, two Kogiidae, Ziphiidae 11 Delphinidae. Three comprised majority (78.9%) events: estuarine dolphin, Sotalia guianensis (61.9%); sperm whale, Physeter macrocephalus (10.3%); rough-toothed Steno bredanensis (6.7%)....

Obesity is a chronic disease with rising worldwide prevalence and largely associated several other comorbidities, such as cancer, nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD) metabolic syndrome. Hepatic steatosis, hallmark of NAFLD, strongly correlated obesity has been changes in the gut microbiota, which can promote its development through production short-chain acids (SCFAs) that regulate insulin resistance, bile acid, choline metabolism, inflammation. Recent studies have suggested controversial role...

Abstract The present study was conducted to decipher the proteome of in vivo‐produced pre‐implantation ovine embryos. Ten locally adapted Morana Nova ewes received hormonal treatment and were inseminated 12 hr after ovulation. Six days later, 54 embryos (morula blastocyst developmental state) recovered from eight pooled obtain sufficient protein for proteomic analysis. Extracted embryo proteins analysed by LC‐MS/MS, followed identification based on four database searches (PEAKS, Proteome...

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common neoplasia in women and infection with human papilloma virus (HPV) its necessary cause. Screening methods, currently based on cytology HPV DNA tests, display low specificity/sensitivity, reducing efficacy of cervical screening programs. Herein, molecular signatures cytologic specimens revealed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), were tested their ability to provide a metabolomic for cancer. These molecules whether they could clinically...

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is among the world's leading causes of blindness. In its neovascular form (nAMD), around 25% patients present further anatomical and visual deterioration due to persistence activity, despite gold-standard treatment protocols using intravitreal anti-VEGF medications. Thus, comprehend, molecular pathways that drive choroidal neoangiogenesis, associated with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), are important steps elucidate mechanistic events...

Single-cell proteomics has emerged as a powerful technology for unraveling the complexities of cellular heterogeneity, enabling insights into individual cell functions and pathologies. One primary challenges in single-cell is data generation, where low mass spectral signals often preclude triggering MS2 events. This challenge addressed by Data Independent Acquisition (DIA), acquisition strategy that does not depend on peptide ion isotopic signatures to generate an event. In this study, we...
