Background and Purpose— Although there is some early evidence showing the value of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in stroke rehabilitation, therapeutic effect high-frequency rTMS, along with physiology rTMS-induced corticomotor excitability supporting motor learning stroke, has not been established. This study investigated cortical associated skill acquisition chronic patients. Methods— Fifteen patients hemiparetic (13 men; mean age 53.5 years) practiced a complex,...

We investigated the effect of task-oriented training (TT) on cortical activation pattern in four chronic hemiparetic stroke patients. A TT program, consisting six tasks, which were designed to improve upper extremity function, was performed for 40 min/day, 4 days/week weeks. The functional status affected hand and fMRI assessed before after program. at 1.5 T parallel with timed finger flexion–extension exercises a fixed rate. main changes recovery decrease unaffected an increase primary...

We evaluated the hand motor function of a right hemiparetic patient with schizencephaly using combination fMRI, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and diffusion tensor tractography (DTT). Only unaffected (right) primary sensori-motor cortex was found to be activated during either affected or movements. Evoked potentials similar characteristics were obtained from both abductor pollicis brevis muscles simultaneously when stimulating cortex. Moreover, tract presumed corticospinal observed in...

Background South Korea has been experiencing a third wave of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) since mid-November 2020. Our hospital in Gwangju metropolitan city experienced healthcare-associated COVID-19 outbreak early the wave. The first confirmed patient was symptomatic neurosurgery resident with high mobility throughout hospital. We analyzed transmission routes nosocomial and discussed infection control strategies. Abstract Aim Post‐embolization syndrome is a common adverse event following trans‐arterial chemoembolization, which negatively impacts the daily life of patients involved. This study examined whether perceptions around post‐embolization and symptom interference among nurses affect their comfort care performance toward who have undergone this procedure. Design A descriptive cross‐sectional study. Methods One hundred fifty registered were surveyed from September to November 2020. Perceived...

Abstract Salivary stones, known as sialoliths, form within the salivary ducts due to abnormal composition and cause painful symptoms, for which surgical removal is primary treatment. This study explored role of microbial communities in formation sialoliths. We conducted a comparative analysis present saliva sequenced 16S rRNA gene samples obtained from patients with sialoliths healthy individuals. Although diversity was high, essential features environment were low evenness. The association...
