A quasi periodic elliptical undulator (QP-EPU105) has been recently put in operation at the Electron Spectro Microscopy beamline NSLS-II. Commissioning results pertaining to its initial characterization are presented. A conceptual design study of the mechanical structure for APPLE II undulators FERMI@Elettra project has been carried out using FEM structural analysis and multiobjective optimization software.
