The Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA) completed its second long-duration balloon flight in January 2009, with 31 days aloft (28.5 live days) over Antarctica. ANITA searches for impulsive coherent radio Cherenkov emission from 200 to 1200 MHz, arising the Askaryan charge excess ultra-high energy neutrino-induced cascades within ice. This included significant improvements first payload sensitivity, efficiency, and a trajectory deeper Analysis of in-flight calibration pulses surface...
We report on an upward traveling, radio-detected cosmic-ray-like impulsive event with characteristics closely matching extensive air shower. This event, observed in the third flight of Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA), a NASA-sponsored long-duration balloon payload, is consistent similar reported previous flight. These events could be produced by atmospheric decay upward-propagating τ lepton ν_{τ} interaction, although their relatively steep arrival angles create tension...
The decays of $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\phi}{f}_{0}(980)[\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma},\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}},{f}_{0}(980)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}]$ are analyzed using a sample $5.8\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{7}$ $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events collected with the BESII detector at...
Using a data sample with total integrated luminosity of 10.0 pb$^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies 2.6, 3.07 and 3.65 GeV BESII, cross sections for $e^+e^-$ annihilation into hadronic final states ($R$ values) are measured statistical errors that smaller than 1%, systematic about 3.5%. The running strong interaction coupling constants $α_s^{(3)}(s)$ $α_s^{(5)}(M_Z^2)$ determined from the $R$ values.
Abstract We present a programmable 16 channel, mixed signal, low power readout ASIC, having the project historically named Gigasample Recorder of Analog waveforms from PHotodetector (GRAPH). It is designed to read large aperture single photon imaging detectors using micro channel plates for charge multiplication, and measuring detector's response on crossed strips anodes extrapolate incoming position. Each consists fast, noise sensitive amplifier, which provides myriad coarse fine options...
The super-KEKB <i xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">B</i> factory, currently under construction at the KEK High Energy Accelerator Research Organization in Japan, has a goal of producing 50 ab -1 integrated luminosity, thus allowing Belle II experiment to study rare decays mesons, xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">D</i> and τ leptons. Such large statistics on these provide...
The Large Area Picosecond PhotoDetector (LAPPD) Collaboration was formed in 2009 to develop large-area photodetectors capable of time resolutions measured pico-seconds, with accompanying sub-millimeter spatial resolution. During the next three and one-half years developed LAPPD design 20 x cm modules gains greater than $10^7$ non-uniformity less $15\%$, resolution 50 psec for single photons 700~microns both lateral dimensions. We describe R\&D performed micro-channel plate glass...
The differential cross sections for the process $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ have been measured in kinematic range $0.6\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}<W<4.1\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$, $|\mathrm{cos}{\ensuremath{\theta}}^{*}|<0.8$ energy and pion scattering angle, respectively, $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ center-of-mass system. results are based on a $223\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ data...
We report the first observation of J/ψ→ηK*0K¯*0 decay in a J/ψ sample 58 million events collected with BESII detector. The branching fraction is determined to be (1.15±0.13±0.22)×10−3. selected signal event further used search for Y(2175) resonance through J/ψ→ηY(2175), Y(2175)→K*0K¯*0. No evidence seen. An upper limit Br(J/ψ→ηY(2175))⋅Br(Y(2175)→K*0K¯*0)<2.52×10−4 set at 90% confidence level.
We describe the development of a future gamma-ray/cosmic-ray mission called Advanced Particle-astrophysics Telescope (APT). The instrument will combine pair tracker and Compton telescope in single monolithic design. By using scintillating fibers for wavelength-shifting to readout CsI detectors, achieve an order magnitude improvement sensitivity compared with Fermi but fewer channels, lower complexity. incorporating multiple imaging over very large effective area, also orders MeV other...
Using psi(2S) --> pi(+)pi(-) J/psi events in a sample of 14.0 x 10(6) decays collected with the BES-II detector, search for decay to invisible final states is performed. No signal found, and an upper limit at 90% confidence level determined be 1.2 10(-2) ratio B(J/psi invisible)/B(J/psi-->mu(+)mu(-)). This first states.
The decay $J/\psi \to \omega p \bar p$ is studied using a $5.8 \times 10^7$ $J/\psi$ event sample accumulated with the BES II detector at Beijing electron-positron collider. branching fraction measured to be $B(J/\psi p)=(9.8\pm 0.3\pm 1.4)\times 10^{-4}$. No significant enhancement near $p\bar mass threshold observed, and an upper limit of X(1860))B(X(1860)\to p\bar p)$$ $$< 1.5 10^{-5}$ determined 95% confidence level, where X(1860) designates near-threshold seen in spectrum \gamma decays.
Using a sample of 58 million $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events collected with the BESII detector at BEPC, more than 100 000 $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ are selected, and detailed partial wave analysis is performed. The branching fraction determined to be...
