The gut bacterium
A high-fat diet (HFD) is a high-risk factor for the malignant progression of cancers through disruption intestinal microbiota. However, role HFD-related gut microbiota in cancer development remains unclear. This study found that obesity and obesity-related were associated with poor prognosis advanced clinicopathological status female patients breast cancer. To investigate impact HFD-associated on progression, we established various models, including HFD feeding, fecal transplantation,...

The objective of this study was to screen for novel quorum-sensing inhibitors (QSIs) from traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) that inhibit bacterial biofilm formation. Six 46 active components found in TCMs were identified as putative QSIs based on molecular docking studies. Of these, three compounds inhibited formation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia at a concentration 200 µM. A fourth compound (emodin) significantly 20 µM induced proteolysis the signal receptor...

Through a computer search of the genome yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, coding sequences seven different box C/D antisense small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) with structural hallmarks guides for rRNA ribose methylation have been detected clustered over 1.4-kb tract in an inter-open reading frame region chromosome XIII. The corresponding snoRNAs positively identified cells. Disruption nonessential snoRNA gene cluster specifically suppressed cognate methylations but did not result any growth delay...
