Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin disease of unknown etiology. Cutaneous infection with microbes such as Staphylococcus aureus and/or cleansing detergent exacerbates clinical AD. Here, we generated an AD animal model by destroying barrier function and subsequent topical application protein A from S. (SpA). NC/Nga mice, which genetically have reduced function, BALB/c mice having intact were susceptible to this combination developed severe moderate AD, respectively,...
Increasing evidence suggests that α-synuclein (αS) aggregates in brains of individuals with Parkinson's disease and dementia Lewy bodies can spread a prion-like manner. Although the initial αS nuclei are pivotal determining fibril polymorphs resulting phenotypes, it is not clear how seeds generated. Previous studies have shown truncation might an important role aggregation. However, little known about this influences αS's propagation properties. In present study, we generated fibrils from...
α-Synuclein is the major component of Lewy bodies and neurites in Parkinson disease dementia with glial cytoplasmic inclusions multiple system atrophy. It has been suggested that α-synuclein fibrils or intermediate protofibrils process fibril formation may have a toxic effect on neuronal cells. In this study, we investigated ability soluble monomeric to promote microtubule assembly effects conformational changes Tau-promoted assembly. marked contrast previous findings, had no polymerization....
Abstract Impaired bone formation due to defective osteoblast function, as reflected in a decreased serum osteocalcin (OC) concentration the patients with diabetes, has been implicated development of diabetic osteopenia. The role hyperglycemia this decrease OC was investigated. 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25[OH]2D3), an active form vitamin D3, stimulated secretion from human osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 dose-dependent manner. Exposure cells high concentrations glucose for 7 days significantly...
Cochineal dye is used worldwide as a red coloring in foods, drinks, cosmetics, quasi-drugs, and drugs. The main component of the color carminic acid (CA). Carmine an aluminum- or calcium-chelated product CA. CA carmine usually contain contaminating proteins, including 38-kDa protein thought to be primary allergen. Severe allergic reactions manifest anaphylaxis. aim this study was review all Japanese reported cases propose useful diagnostic chart. All cochineal dye-induced immediate allergy...
After exposure of the skin to microbes, host develops skin‐specific inflammation and an acquired immune response, in which keratinocytes (KC) Langerhans cells play critical roles respectively. We established two animal models. (i) examined importance KC‐derived IL‐18 for systemic IgE response by using a transplantation model. As previously reported, transgenic mice (KCASP1Tg), that over‐express caspase‐1 their KC, display high serum levels IgE, spontaneously develop chronic dermatitis...
Thin polycrystalline films of half-metallic ferromagnetic NiMnSb compound have been successfully prepared by simultaneous evaporation Ni, Mn, and Sb elements onto heated glass sapphire substrates. X-ray diffraction, Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy, energy-dispersive x-ray Auger studies confirmed the quality surface composition. Magnetization Kerr rotation obtained for these agree well with those made on a single crystal NiMnSb. Using electron tunneling techniques, attempts to measure...
Parkinson's disease (PD) and related disorders are characterized by filamentous or fibrous structures consisting of abnormal α-synuclein in the brains patients, distributions spread these pathologies closely correlated with progression. L-DOPA (a dopamine precursor) is most effective therapy for PD, but it remains unclear whether drug has any effect on formation propagation pathogenic vivo. Here, we tested not influences prion-like a wild-type (WT) mouse model propagation. To quantitative...
Abstract Objective To generate a mouse model of reactive arthritis (ReA), an aseptic synovitis that develops in joints distant from the primary bacterial infection site, to examine roles for Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) recognize components involved development this arthritis, and identify cytokine(s) relevant arthritis. Methods Mice were treated with cell wall extract Escherichia coli (ECW) gram‐negative bacterium by injection into footpads. Seven days later, mice challenged...
Water intoxication occurs almost exclusively in many patients with chronic psychiatric disorder. To elucidate the mechanism of this syndrome, we undertook following animal experiments and clinical study. Twelve rabbits were given neuroleptics for eight weeks. From measurement arginine vasopressin (AVP) secretion response to osmotic stimuli (fluid deprivation, partaking ad lib. water loading), found that neuroleptic administration might raise sensitivity AVP escretion response. Then...
A 65-year-old man with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) was admitted for progressive jaundice. Diffuse pancreatic swelling and stricture of the main duct were observed elevated serum levels direct bilirubin, aspartate transaminase, alanine alkaline phosphatase, γGTP amylase, impaired glucose tolerance. Serum IgG IgG4 highly elevated, both antiglobulin test platelet-associated positive. He diagnosed autoimmune pancreatitis associated MDS, biliary drainage followed by immunosuppressive therapy...
Central nervous system graft-versus-host disease can present quite a diagnostic challenge. We herein case of histologically-confirmed chronic graft versus host (GVHD) involving the central that occurred at 19 months after peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. Cranial magnetic resonance imaging showed areas confluent hyperintensity in deep/subcortical white matter with multiple punctate and curvilinear gadolinium enhancements, suggesting disruption blood-brain barrier. A brain biopsy...
No studies to date have attempted evaluate frontotemporal lobar degeneration from the perspective of vestibular system. The present study examined function in patients with dementia (FTD) clinical syndrome and evaluated whether disorders are involved symptoms due FTD.Fourteen FTD syndrome, as well healthy elderly controls without dementia, were included study. All subjects underwent tests using electronystagmography, such caloric visual suppression (VS) tests, which induced nystagmus was...
We report a male patient with adult T-cell lymphoma, who was initially diagnosed clinically as having Henoch–Schönlein purpura (HSP) abdominal pain and specific purpura. Adult lymphoma-like cells were minimal lymph nodes transiently swollen, the symptoms improved by supportive management. Although clinical course compatible HSP, histological examination revealed infiltration of lymphocytes rather than neutrophils. Later he developed lymphoma treated chemotherapy. This rare case suggests...
