CD24 is a potential oncogene reported to be overexpressed in large variety of human malignancies. We have shown that 90% colorectal tumors at fairly early stage the multistep process carcinogenesis. Anti-CD24 monoclonal antibodies (mAb) induce significant growth inhibition and pancreatic cancer cell lines express protein. This study designed investigate further effects down-regulation using mAb or small interfering RNA vitro vivo. Western blot analysis showed anti-CD24 induced protein...

CTT performed simple (ST), partial manual exchange (PME), or erythrocytapheresis (RCE). Although small case series have demonstrated RCE combination chelation stabilizes and/or decreases ferritin, there are no reports comparing the effect of ST, PME, on liver concentration (LIC). modality serum ferritin LIC were compared SCA...

Chronic transfusion therapy (CTT) for sickle cell disease (SCD) reduces morbidity by suppressing the amount of circulating hemoglobin S (HbS)-containing red blood cells (RBC). The effectiveness CTT depends on rate RBC clearance. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficient donor may exhibit increased hemolysis, but it is unknown if these units results in less effective outcomes SCD. Children with SCD were followed prospectively multiple transfusions. G6PD activity transfused was...

Abstract The adenomatous polyposis coli or β-catenin genes are frequently mutated in colorectal cancer cells, resulting oncogenic activation of signaling. We tried to establish vitro and vivo models for selectively killing human cells with an activated β-catenin/T-cell factor (Tcf) pathway. used a recombinant adenovirus that carries lethal gene [p53-up-regulated modulator apoptosis (PUMA)] under the control β-catenin/Tcf–responsive promoter (AdTOP-PUMA) target (SW480, HCT116, DLD-1, LS174T),...

Abstract BACKGROUND. Functional activation of β‐catenin/T‐cell factor (Tcf) signaling plays an important role in the early events carcinogenesis. Recently, it was demonstrated that adenomatous polyposis coli or β‐catenin genes are mutated frequently gastric cancer cells. The objective current study to use a gene‐targeting approach kill human cells selectively with activated β‐catenin/Tcf signaling. METHODS. A recombinant adenovirus carries lethal gene (p53 up‐regulated modulator apoptosis...

Patients differ regard to sources blood flow. In milder disease, there are confluent branch arteries fed by ductus arteriosus. more severe cases, however, arteriosus absent, and sole source via major aortopulmonary collateral (MAPCAs). The variability in origin, size, number, clinical course these MAPCAs adds complexity patients....
