Optical second-harmonic and sum-frequency spectra of clean oxidized Si(100) Si(111) samples reveal a strong resonance band at 3.3 eV photon energy. It is concluded that the arises from direct transitions between valence conduction states in few monolayers strained silicon Si-${\mathrm{SiO}}_{2}$ interface selvedge reconstructed surfaces.

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy has been applied to polymer samples in order investigate the possibility of using this method for identification different materials. The plasma emission spectra high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density (LDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), terephthalate (PET), and polypropylene (PP) have studied. Spectral features measured—for example, 725.7 nm chlorine line, 486.13 mm H β 247.86 carbon line—whose evaluation with neural networks permits accuracies...

Pulsed field threshold ionization leads to a vibrationally resolved spectrum of the X̃ 2E1g state benzene cation. It is further used investigate state-selective dissociation benzene–Ar+ complex. Exclusive detection ions with resolution <9 cm−1 achieved by kinetic energy analysis in reflectron mass spectrometer.

A new method to determine the spin tune is described and tested. In an ideal planar magnetic ring, tune-defined as number of precessions per turn-is given by ν(s)=γG (γ Lorentz factor, G gyromagnetic anomaly). At 970 MeV/c, deuteron spins coherently precess at a frequency ≈120 kHz in Cooler Synchrotron COSY. The deduced from up-down asymmetry deuteron-carbon scattering. time interval 2.6 s, was determined with precision order 10^{-8}, 1×10^{-10} for continuous 100 s accelerator cycle. This...

Slow metastable fragmentation of benzene/toluene and benzene/para-difluorobenzene clusters is observed in a newly developed linear reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer after two-photon ionization. The breakdown the intensity with decreasing energy measured yields appearance potential for main dissociation channels homo- heterodimers. Based on these values, energies neutral dimers are obtained shown to be consistent changes polarizability dipole moment components. In addition, from...

ABSTRACT Plant pathogens cause major economic losses in the agricultural industry because late detection delays implementation of measures that can prevent their dissemination. Sensitive and robust procedures for rapid plant are therefore required to reduce yield use expensive, environmentally damaging chemicals. Here we describe a simple portable system viral infected plants based on immunofiltration, subsequent magnetic detection, quantification magnetically labeled virus particles....
