Iron dysregulation has been implicated in multiple neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD). Iron-loaded microglia are frequently found affected brain regions, but how iron accumulation influences physiology and contributes to neurodegeneration is poorly understood. Here we show that human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived grown a tri-culture system highly responsive susceptible ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death. Furthermore, overload causes marked...

Thrombolysis has been a standard treatment for ischemic stroke. However, only 2-7% patients benefit from it because the thrombolytic agent to be injected within 4.5 h after onset of symptoms avoid increasing risk intracerebral hemorrhage. As clinically approved neuroprotective drug, edaravone (EDV) rescues brain tissues by eradicating over-produced reactive oxygen species (ROS) without limitation therapeutic time-window. EDV's short circulation half-life and inadequate cerebral uptake...

Abstract Previous observational studies have suggested an association between tryptophan (TRP)–kynurenine (KYN) pathway and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, whether there is a causal relationship among them remains unclear. Therefore, two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study was conducted to explore the potential effects of crucial metabolites in TRP–KYN on IBD its subtypes. Using summary data from genome-wide studies, MR employed evaluate genetic associations TRP KYN as...

Cardiac fibrosis under chronic pressure overload is an end-stage adverse remodeling of heart. However, current heart failure treatments barely focus on anti-fibrosis and the effects are limited. We aimed to seek for a cardiac abundant specific piRNA, exploring its underlying mechanism therapeutic potential. Whole transcriptome sequencing following verification experiments identified highly upregulated piRNA (piRNA-000691) in transverse aortic constriction (TAC) mice, TAC pig, human samples,...

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is considered a devastating disease, leaving survivors with lifelong neurological impairment. With increased knowledge that regulatory T cells (Tregs) provide protection against stroke, novel agents which could expand Treg populations have been assessed in terms of the potential clinical neuroprotection effect. Using rat SAH model, we investigated number variation Tregs induced by and protective effect low-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2) treatment on model. We...

Depression is a global mental disorder disease and greatly threatened human health stress considered to be one of the important factors that lead depression. In this study, we used newly developed iTRAQ labeling high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) mass spectrum united analysis technology obtained 2176 accurate proteins. Successively, GO IPA software analyze 98 differentially expressed proteins liver in depression rats due chronic restraint stress, showing map proteomics from...

The sex-peptide receptor (SPR) acts in Drosophila females to detect male (SP) and trigger changes female behaviour. Further study on SPR its ligand family from different taxa will not only provide insight into ligand–receptor coevolution but also facilitate finding new approaches for pest control. Our previous studies the tobacco cutworm Spodoptera litura (Fabricius, 1775) showed that mating usually results marked behaviour determined factors accessory gland (MAG) secretions play a key role...

Although various surgical techniques have been reported for aortic arch reconstruction proximal and distal transverse (PDTA) hypoplasia, no consensus has reached on a option initial reconstruction. This study was undertaken to review options PDTA hypoplasia in Chinese infants.A retrospective of 121 infants who underwent the arches between 2010 2020 performed. Freedom from recoarctation analyzed using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Univariate multivariable Cox regression analyses were performed...

At-home rehabilitation for post-stroke patients presents significant challenges, as continuous, personalized care is often limited outside clinical settings. Additionally, the absence of comprehensive solutions addressing diverse needs in home environments complicates recovery efforts. Here, we introduce a smart platform that integrates wearable sensors, ambient monitoring, and large language model (LLM)-powered assistance to provide seamless health monitoring intelligent support. The system...

Although the clinical manifestations of membranous supravalvular aortic stenosis (SVAS) are distinctive, its diagnosis remains challenging. Failure to initiate surgical treatment in a timely manner greatly increases risk sudden cardiac death. We report case SVAS, detailing presentation and imaging manifestations. The authors declare that they have no competing interests. My data is available.
