Mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) devices address the limitations of manual CPR, but their impact on intrathoracic injuries during extracorporeal CPR (ECPR) remains unclear. This study investigated relationship between mechanical and severe hemorrhage ECPR compared to CPR. We conducted a single-center retrospective consecutive patients who underwent from April 2017 March 2024 according standard institutional protocol. Patients were divided into group (piston-driven compressions...

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination is reportedly safe and effective. The histologic features of post-COVID-19 myocarditis are unknown. We present a case 77-year-old Japanese woman diagnosed with eosinophilic using endomyocardial biopsy, 7 days after the second dose BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine. Steroid pulse therapy was

Abstract Hyperuricemia is related to an increased risk of cardiovascular events from a meta-analysis and antihyperuricemia agents may influence cardiac function. We evaluated the effect febuxostat on echocardiographic parameters diastolic function in patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia as prespecified endpoint subanalysis PRIZE study. Patients study were assigned randomly either add-on treatment group or control only appropriate lifestyle modification. Of 514 overall study, 65 (31 34...

Abstract Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and P2Y 12 inhibitor is administered following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) stent implantation. Several studies have reported the effects of switching between inhibitors on platelet reactivity (P2Y reaction units: PRU), from acute to late phase after PCI. However, effect at very unknown. This study examined PRU in Japanese heart disease patients long-term DAPT (aspirin + clopidogrel) when clopidogrel prasugrel. Ninety-six...

Patients were divided into three groups: Group I, consisting 20 various cardiac arrhythmias other than SSS paroxysmal fibrillation (PAF) who served as controls; II, 18 but without PAF; III consisted 16 PAF. was significantly longer (122 +/- 11 ms, mean SD, < 0.0001) (111 15 0.002) I...

In 2018, the CorPath GRX system (Corindus) was approved for use in Japan, marking introduction of first robotic-assisted percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) country. The present report describes experience PCI four lesions two cases a single center. All procedures succeeded without any complications, although one procedure converted to manual by operator's decision. Post-marketing surveillance assess impact this novel on both Japanese patients and physicians is currently ongoing Japan.

After the dosage form of tamsulosin hydrochloride was changed from a capsule to on orally disintegrating tablet (ODT, Harnal D), we often received patient complaints and noted an increase in noncompliance with medication regimens. The change appeared cause poor compliance by patients who had become accustomed light pink/white over many years. Therefore, carried out questionnaire survey taking ODT determine effects changing usefulness ODT. Most (92%) respondents took water. In addition, 16%...

During a head-up tilt test, his heart rate increased from 105 155 beats/minute within 3 minutes, chest discomfort began. He diagnosed postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), intolerance disappeared after β-blocker treatment. Scintigraphy using 123I-metaiodobenzylguanidine showed decreased cardiac uptake. Repetitive atrial firing (RAF), marked fragmentation of activity (FAA), and interatrial conduction delay (CD) have been shown to be electrophysiological features the atrium in patients with fibrillation (AF). Moreover, it has observed that extrastimuli are more likely induce AF when delivered from right appendage (RAA) than distal coronary sinus (CSd). We examined properties muscle by CS RAA stimulation paroxysmal AF. Patients were divided into two groups: group I, consisting 18 clinical AF;...

A device that can evaluate human pulmonary microcirculation is currently unavailable. This study aimed to establish a novel approach for assessing in patients with hypertension (PH). We used guidewire embedded temperature and pressure sensors measure the following microcirculatory function indicators: flow reserve, index of resistance (PIMR), resistive reserve ratio. Adenosine was administered induce hyperemia artery assessment. The correlation between these indicators various parameters,...

Background: Mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is widely used to ensure high-quality CPR while reducing the burden on medical team; however, it carries risk of intrathoracic bleeding complications. Extracorporeal (ECPR) for refractory cardiac arrest also poses significant challenges due major To date, no studies have specifically investigated complications when mechanical combined with ECPR. Aim: compare between manual and in ECPR patients. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 85...
