We report a precision measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry $A_{PV}$ in elastic scattering longitudinally polarized electrons from $^{208}$Pb. measure $A_{PV}=550\pm 16 {\rm (stat)}\pm 8\ (syst)}$ parts per billion, leading to an extraction neutral weak form factor $F_W(Q^2 = 0.00616\ GeV}^2) 0.368 \pm 0.013$. Combined with our previous measurement, extracted neutron skin thickness is $R_n-R_p=0.283 0.071$~fm. The result also yields first significant direct interior density...
We report a precise measurement of the parity-violating (PV) asymmetry A_{PV} in elastic scattering longitudinally polarized electrons from ^{48}Ca. measure A_{PV}=2668±106(stat)±40(syst) parts per billion, leading to an extraction neutral weak form factor F_{W}(q=0.8733 fm^{-1})=0.1304±0.0052(stat)±0.0020(syst) and charge minus F_{ch}-F_{W}=0.0277±0.0055. The resulting neutron skin thickness R_{n}-R_{p}=0.121±0.026(exp)±0.024(model) fm is relatively thin yet consistent with many model...
The first measurement of lepton-jet momentum imbalance and azimuthal correlation in lepton-proton scattering at high transfer is presented. These data, taken with the H1 detector HERA, are corrected for effects using an unbinned machine learning algorithm (multifold), which considers eight observables simultaneously this application. unfolded cross sections compared calculations performed within context collinear or transverse-momentum-dependent factorization quantum chromodynamics as well...
The ratio of the nucleon F_{2} structure functions, F_{2}^{n}/F_{2}^{p}, is determined by MARATHON experiment from measurements deep inelastic scattering electrons ^{3}H and ^{3}He nuclei. was performed in Hall A Facility Jefferson Lab using two high-resolution spectrometers for electron detection, a cryogenic target system which included low-activity tritium cell. data analysis used novel technique exploiting mirror symmetry nuclei, essentially eliminates many theoretical uncertainties...
In this document the PHENIX collaboration proposes a major upgrade to detector at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. This upgrade, sPHENIX, enables an extremely rich jet and beauty quarkonia physics program addressing fundamental questions about nature of strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma (QGP), discovered experimentally RHIC be perfect fluid. The startling dynamics QGP on fluid-like length scales is emergent property quantum chromodynamics (QCD), seemingly implicit in Lagrangian but...
Results are presented from data recorded in 2009 by the PHENIX experiment at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider for double-longitudinal spin asymmetry, $A_{LL}$, $\pi^0$ and $\eta$ production $\sqrt{s} = 200$ GeV polarized $p$$+$$p$ collisions. Comparison of results with different theory expectations based on fits other published showed a preference small positive values gluon polarization, $\Delta G$, proton probed Bjorken $x$ range. The effect adding new \pz to recent global analysis...
We present the first measurements of long-range angular correlations and transverse momentum dependence elliptic flow $v_2$ in high-multiplicity $p$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. A comparison these results with previous $d$$+$Au $^3{\rm He}$$+$Au demonstrates a relation between initial collision eccentricity $\varepsilon_2$, suggesting that observed momentum-space azimuthal anisotropies small systems have collective origin reflect geometry. Good agreement is measured...
Asymmetric nuclear collisions of $p+\mathrm{Al}$, $p+\mathrm{Au}$, $d+\mathrm{Au}$, and $^{3}\mathrm{He}+\mathrm{Au}$ at $\sqrt{{s}_{NN}}=200\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$ provide an excellent laboratory for understanding particle production, as well exploring interactions among these particles after their initial creation in the collision. We present measurements charged hadron production $d{N}_{\text{ch}}/d\ensuremath{\eta}$ all such collision systems over a broad pseudorapidity range...

We report high-precision measurements of the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) cross section at high values Bjorken variable x_{B}. DVCS is sensitive to generalized parton distributions nucleon, which provide a three-dimensional description its internal constituents. Using exact analytic expression for all possible polarization states initial and final electron state photon, we present first experimental extraction four helicity-conserving form factors (CFFs) nucleon as function...
The PHENIX Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured open heavy-flavor production in minimum bias Au$+$Au collisions $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV via yields of electrons from semileptonic decays charm and bottom hadrons. Previous electron measurements indicated substantial modification momentum distribution parent heavy quarks due to quark-gluon plasma created these collisions. For first time, using silicon vertex detector measure precision displaced tracking, relative...
The PHENIX Collaboration has measured the ratio of yields $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ to $\ensuremath{\psi}(1S)$ mesons produced in $p+p$, $p+\mathrm{Al}$, $p+\mathrm{Au}$, and $^{3}\mathrm{He}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions at $\sqrt{{s}_{{}_{\mathit{NN}}}}=200$ GeV over forward backward rapidity intervals $1.2<|y|<2.2$. We find that $p+p$ is consistent with measurements other collision energies. In nuclei, we ($p$-going or $^{3}\mathrm{He}$-going) direction, relative yield value collisions. However,...

We present new precision measurements of the elastic electron-proton scattering cross section for momentum transfer (Q^{2}) up to 15.75 (GeV/c)^{2}. Combined with existing data, these provide an improved extraction proton magnetic form factor at high Q^{2} and double range over which a longitudinal or transverse separation can be performed. The difference between our results polarization data agrees that observed lower attributed hard two-photon exchange (TPE) effects, extending 8...
We report precision determinations of the beam-normal single spin asymmetries (A_{n}) in elastic scattering 0.95 and 2.18 GeV electrons off ^{12}C, ^{40}Ca, ^{48}Ca, ^{208}Pb at very forward angles where most detailed theoretical calculations have been performed. The first measurements A_{n} for ^{40}Ca ^{48}Ca are found to be similar that consistent with expectations thus demonstrating validity nuclei Z≤20. also two new momentum transfers (Q^{2}) extending previous measurement. The PHENIX experiment reports systematic measurements at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider of ϕ-meson production in asymmetric Cu+Au collisions sNN=200GeV and U+U sNN=193GeV. Measurements were performed via ϕ→K+K− decay channel midrapidity |η|<0.35. Features measured Cu+Cu, Cu+Au, Au+Au, found to not depend on collision geometry, which was expected because yields are averaged over azimuthal angle follow scaling with nuclear-overlap size. elliptic flow ϕ meson scales...

Abstract The Breit frame provides a natural to analyze lepton–proton scattering events. In this reference frame, the parton model hard interactions between quark and an exchanged boson defines coordinate system such that struck is back-scattered along virtual photon momentum direction. Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), higher order perturbative or non-perturbative effects can change picture drastically. As Bjorken- x decreases below one half, rather peculiar event signature predicted with...
