To investigate the feasibility of a newly developednear-infrared optical spectroscopy device, we analysed measurements infrared tracer indocyanine green (ICC) using sensors with single near light source and multiple detectors. Two ml ICC dye, 1.0 mg ml~1 in concentration, were injected into internal carotid artery during cerebral angiography 14 adult patients. The resultant washout curves measured bilaterally 4 detectors spaced at 10, 20, 30 40 mm from on right side, 15, 25, 35 45 for left...

We have developed a novel airway apparatus, AirWay Scope, which we used in the orotracheal intubation of 10 consecutive patients requiring general anesthesia before neurosurgical procedures. The characteristic shape introducer (INTLOCK), tube guiding function and sighting device Scope has possibility to facilitate tracheal intubation. Here, report first clinical application this system describe potential advantages apparatus.

Abstract Background Elderly patients have a blunted host response, which may influence vital signs and clinical outcomes of sepsis. This study was aimed to investigate whether the associations between mortality are different in elderly non-elderly with Methods retrospective observational study. A Japanese multicenter sepsis cohort (FORECAST, n = 1148) used for discovery analyses. Significant results were tested replication using two validation cohorts (JAAMSR, Japan, 624; SPH, Canada, 1004)....

OBJECTIVE Microneurosurgery can be performed less invasively with the recent advances in neuronavigation and neuroendoscopy. For even invasive microneurosurgery, we have developed a telecontrolled micromanipulator system. METHODS The NeuRobot system was developed. With use of this system, surgical simulations were human cadaveric head. RESULTS consists four main parts, i.e., (slave manipulator), manipulator-supporting device, an operation-input device (master three-dimensional display...

Severe burn injuries create large skin defects that render the host susceptible to bacterial infections. Burn wound infection often causes systemic sepsis and severe septicemia, resulting in an increase mortality of patients with injuries. Therefore, appropriate care is important prevent improve patient outcomes. However, it difficult heal a third-degree injury. The aim this study was investigate whether hyperdry human amniotic membrane (HD-AM) could promote early granulation tissue...

The clinical implications of bacteremia among septic patients remain unclear, although a vast amount data have been accumulated on sepsis. We aimed to compare the characteristics and outcomes severe sepsis with without bacteremia. This secondary analysis multicenter, prospective cohort study included 59 intensive care units (ICUs) in Japan between January 2016 March 2017. comprised 1,184 adults (aged ≥ 16 years) who were admitted an ICU diagnosed according Sepsis-2 criteria. Abstract Current research regarding the association between body mass index (BMI) and altered clinical outcomes of sepsis in Asian populations is insufficient. We investigated BMI using two Japanese cohorts severe (derivation cohort, Chiba University Hospital, n = 614; validation multicenter 1561). Participants were categorized into underweight (BMI < 18.5) non-underweight ≥ groups. The primary outcome was 28-day mortality. Univariate analysis derivation cohort indicated increased...
