The parity-violating cross-section asymmetry in the elastic scattering of polarized electrons from unpolarized protons has been measured at a four-momentum transfer squared Q2 = 0.624 GeV and beam energy E =3.48 to be A_PV -23.80 +/- 0.78 (stat) 0.36 (syst) parts per million. This result is consistent with zero contribution strange quarks combination electric magnetic form factors G_E^s + 0.517 G_M^s 0.003 0.010 0.004 0.009 (ff), where third error due limits precision on electromagnetic...
We present new $\ensuremath{\Sigma}$ beam asymmetry data for $\ensuremath{\eta}$ meson photoproduction on the proton, using a novel tagged, laser backscattered, linearly polarized photon up to 1.1 GeV. The show large, positive asymmetries, at all incident energies. In addition ${S}_{11}(1535)$ and ${D}_{13}(1520)$ resonances necessary reproduce cross sections, ${P}_{13}(1720)$ ${D}_{15}(1675)$ ``four stars'' contribute observable, but cannot strong forward asymmetries measured energies...
We present deeply virtual ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ electroproduction cross-section measurements at ${x}_{B}=0.36$ and three different ${Q}^{2}$ values ranging from 1.5 to $2\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{Ge}\mathrm{V}}^{2}$, obtained Jefferson Lab Hall A experiment E07-007. The Rosenbluth technique is used separate the longitudinal transverse responses. Results demonstrate that cross section dominated by its component and, thus, far asymptotic limit predicted perturbative quantum chromodynamics....
The double π0 photoproduction off the proton has been measured in beam energy range of 0.65–1.5 GeV. total and differential cross sections Σ asymmetry were extracted. section for first time third resonance region nucleon shows a prominent peak. interpretation these results by two independent theoretical models infers mostly selective excitation P11- D13-nucleon resonances.Received 17 January 2003DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.90.222001©2003 American Physical Society
Semiperipheral collisions in the $^{124}\mathrm{Sn}+^{64}\mathrm{Ni}$ reaction at 35 MeV/nucleon were studied using forward part of Charged Heavy Ion Mass and Energy Resolving Array. Nearly completely determined ternary events involving projectilelike fragments (PLF), targetlike (TLF), intermediate mass (IMF) selected. A new method studying mechanism, focusing on analysis correlations between relative velocities IMF+PLF IMF+TLF subsystems, is proposed. The velocity provide information time...
The possibility of anisotropies in the speed light relative to limiting electrons is considered. absence sidereal variations energy Compton-edge photons at European Synchrotron Radiation Facility's GRAAL facility constrains such representing first nonthreshold collision-kinematics study Lorentz violation. When interpreted within minimal standard-model extension, this result yields two-sided limit 1.6×10−14 95% confidence level on a combination parity-violating photon and electron...
The analysis of the γp→ηπ0p reaction has been performed using data from GRAAL experiment. total and differential cross sections beam asymmetry have obtained threshold up to 1.5 GeV energy. two resonances S11(1535) Δ(1700) are expected be excited in intermediate states this reaction. results used test predictions based on assumption that both dynamically generated meson-baryon interaction provided by chiral Lagrangians. term involving excitation, followed decay into ηΔ(1232), is found...
The physics case and an experimental overview of the MOLLER (Measurement Of a Lepton Electroweak Reaction) experiment at 12 GeV upgraded Jefferson Lab are presented. A highlight Fundamental Symmetries subfield 2007 NSAC Long Range Plan was SLAC E158 measurement parity-violating asymmetry $A_{PV}$ in polarized electron-electron (M{\o}ller) scattering. proposed will improve on this result by factor five, yielding most precise weak mixing angle low or high energy anticipated over next decade....
The differential cross section for the reaction p(γ,ηp) has been measured from threshold to 1100 MeV photon laboratory energy. For first time, region of S11(1535) resonance is fully covered in a photoproduction experiment and will allow precise extraction its parameters at point. These high precision data together with already beam asymmetry provide stringent constraints on new couplings baryon resonances η meson.
The first study of quasi-free Compton scattering on the neutron in energy range $E_{\gamma}=0.75 - 1.5$ GeV is presented. data reveals a narrow peak at $W\sim 1.685$ GeV. This result, being considered conjunction with recent evidence for structure 1.68$GeV $\eta$ photoproduction neutron, suggests existence new nucleon resonance unusual properties: mass $M\sim 1.685$GeV, width $\Gamma \leq 30$MeV, and much stronger photoexcitation than proton.
We present the first measurement of Σ beam asymmetry in η photoproduction on neutron photon energy range from threshold to 1.5 GeV. Data have been collected by using tagged and linearly polarized large solid angle apparatus GRAAL facility. Neutron data selected among events deuteron quasi-free kinematics approximation. Proton data, extracted same way, are within errors identical those previously obtained free protons at facility, except for a few points falling certain bins. This difference...
The proton is composed of quarks and gluons, bound by the most elusive mechanism strong interaction called confinement. In this work, dynamics gluons are investigated using deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS): produced a multi-GeV electron, highly photon scatters off which subsequently radiates high energy photon. Similarly to holography, measuring not only magnitude but also phase DVCS amplitude allows perform 3D images internal structure proton. made accessible through...
The $ \Sigma$ beam asymmetry in \eta^{\prime}$ photoproduction off the proton was measured at GrAAL polarised photon with incoming energies of 1.461 and 1.480 GeV. For both as a function meson production angle shows clear structure, more pronounced lowest one, change sign around 90^{\circ}$ . observed behaviour is compatible P-wave D-wave (or S-wave F-wave) interference, closer to threshold stronger. results are compared existing state-of-the-art calculations that fail account for data.
