We report the complete genomic sequence of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense MSR-1 (DSM 6361), a type strain genus belonging to Alphaproteobacteria. Compared reported draft sequence, extensive rearrangements and differences were found, indicating high flexibility "domestication" by accelerated evolution upon repeated passaging.

Magnetosome synthesis ability of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense MSR-1 in an autofermentor can be precisely controlled through strict control dissolved oxygen concentration. In this study, using transcriptome data we discovered gene transcriptional differences and compared physiological characteristics cells cultured under aerobic (high-oxygen) micro-aerobic (low-oxygen) conditions. The results showed that 77 genes were up-regulated 95 down-regulated significantly situation. These involved...

Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) are specialized microorganisms that synthesize intracellular magnetite particles called magnetosomes. Although many studies have focused on the mechanism of magnetosome synthesis, it remains unclear how these structures formed. Recent reports suggested formation is energy dependent. To investigate relationship between and metabolism, a global regulator, named Crp, which mainly controls carbon metabolism in most microorganisms, was genetically disrupted...
