We report the local atomic and electronic structure of a nitrogen-doped graphite surface by scanning tunnelling microscopy, spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron first-principles calculations. The was prepared nitrogen ion bombardment followed thermal annealing. Two types species were identified at level: pyridinic-N (N bonded to two C nearest neighbours) graphitic-N three neighbours). Distinct states localized {\pi} found appear in occupied unoccupied regions near Fermi level carbon atoms...
Multiple severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants with higher transmission potential have been emerging globally, including SARS-CoV-2 from the United Kingdom and South Africa. We report 4 travelers Brazil to Japan in January 2021 infected a novel variant an additional set of mutations.
BackgroundTo develop an effective vaccine against a novel viral pathogen, it is important to understand the longitudinal antibody responses its first infection. Here we performed study of SARS-CoV-2 in symptomatic patients.MethodsSequential blood samples were collected from 39 individuals at various timepoints between 0 and 154 days after onset. IgG or IgM titers receptor binding domain (RBD) S protein, ectodomain N protein determined by using ELISA. Neutralizing measured plaque reduction...
Significance Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants are of concern, with the P.1 dominating in Brazil. Brazil is now seeing a record number deaths. Here, we report that pathogenicity hamsters variant similar to nonvariant SARS-CoV-2. However, it has an expanded host range as shown by its replication mice. Prior infection SARS-CoV-2 strains efficiently prevented lower tract upon reinfection. Convalescent sera from patients infected nonvariants or messenger RNA...

Abstract The role of endogenous tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and interferon-beta (IFN-beta) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced activation the inducible nitric-oxide synthase (i-NOS) gene was investigated. By Northern analysis or reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction, mouse macrophage cell line (J774) found to respond LPS treatment by increased expression mRNAs specific for TNF-alpha, IFN-beta, i-NOS with kinetics unique each gene. Bioassay culture supernatants showed...

Nitrogen doping of a graphite surface by ion bombardment has been found to enhance the durability deposited Pt clusters for H2−D2 exchange reaction. Scanning tunneling microscopy suggests that this high is originated from stabilized monolayer morphology clusters. From comparison with case argon bombardment, ascribed nitrogen-doping effect such as an electron doping, which enhances interface interaction between cluster and rather than dangling carbon atoms at vacancy.
Under perpendicular external magnetic fields, two-dimensional carriers exhibit Landau levels (LLs). However, it has recently been reported that LLs have observed on graphene and graphite surfaces without fields being applied. These anomalous ascribed primarily to a strain of sheets, leading in-plane hopping modulation electrons. Here, we report the observation massive Dirac fermions atomically flat areas nitrogen-doped surface in absence fields. The corresponding were estimated be as much...
We report a case of varicella zoster virus (VZV) meningitis following BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in an immunocompetent patient. A final diagnosis was made based on identification VZV via positive polymerase chain reaction cerebrospinal fluid along with characteristic symptoms such as fever, headache, and stiff neck. This phenomenon has been reported elsewhere; this is the 13th worldwide 7th patients, indicating need for careful monitoring after vaccines.
Secretory immunoglobulin A (IgA) plays a crucial role in mucosal immunity for preventing the invasion of exogenous antigens; however, little is understood about neutralizing activity serum IgA. Here, to examine IgA antibodies against COVID-19 illnesses, we determined serum/plasma IgG and purified from previously SARS-CoV-2-infected mRNA vaccine-receiving individuals. We found that possesses substantial but rather modest SARS-CoV-2 compared with no significant correlation disease severity....
In sub-100-nm generation, gate-tunneling leakage current increases and dominates the total standby of LSIs based on decreasing gate-oxide thickness. Showing that gate is effectively reduced by lowering voltage, we propose a local dc level control (LDLC) for SRAM cell arrays an automatic suppression driver (AGLSD) peripheral circuits. We designed fabricated 32-kB 1-port using 90-nm CMOS technology. The six-transistor size 1.25 /spl mu/m/sup 2/. Evaluation shows 1.2 mu/A at V room temperature....
